Attention, pilots on iPhone/iPad!

Starting from version 5.3, there'll be only one unified version of the Airport City app both for iPhone and iPad. This unification allows you to transfer your progress to any iOS device on your own or restore it if necessary. Moreover, you'll finally be able to change your game username!

What should you do to get the new version?

If you play on your iPhone, simply download the update from the AppStore and keep playing as usual.

Getting the update on your iPad is slightly more difficult, that's why we've prepared a quick how-to guide for such cases:
1. Tap Install when you get the New version is available message in the game.
2. The game will automatically redirect you to the page of the new Airport City on the AppStore. Install the new app.
3. When the new version is installed, launch the game with the help of the newly created Airport City icon.
4. You'll get a restoration window on entering the game. Download the progress from the server to get it transferred to the new app.
5. After the process is finished, you'll get 10 Airport Cash as a bonus and can freely go on with developing your Airport.
6. The icon of the old version of the app (Airport City HD) can easily be deleted, as it won't get any updates in the future. We don't recommend opening it after the process.

If you decided to delete the new app, you'll get a reminder about the new version each time you enter the old one. However, you won't get any bonus for downloading it for a second time.

So are they are now saying that for ipad players you should open the app first and download the update from the game rather than from App store. It will then add a new AC icon to your desktop which you then need to open to give you the option to open your old game.

Not doing anything now till I get home, back up my games and read more of the Forum
 
It only seems to be an issue for iOS players that had multiple games on iPad's. Ivan did warn us about this and most, if not all of us already made the appropriate transfers to other devices. The problem stems from the fact that GI servers are still showing our old, transferred games and not showing our current active games.

The game it is prompting me to download from its server has not been active in over a month, and before I deleted it, I could no longer access it as it was transferred to my Windows desktop!!! It's not even on the same platform anymore for goodness sakes.

Do you have Game Centre turned on? This seems to be one of the key factors with the new update for IOS.
I do have game center on and I'm logged in using my only apple id. It asked me to pick the local or server version and I picked server every time and it gave me the server connection error. This was before I get another update request for the old version to go to 5.2.25. Now the 5.3 version (new icon) doesn't ask me to pick local or server or #4 that you posted earlier.

Does my app id need to match the email address under game insight icon on the bottom right (in game)> help and support >contact us?

Hard reset of my iPad (home button + sleep for 5 sec) atleast lets me play on the old app. Seems to save game progress too, if I close the game and reopen.

On my support game I can see changes done on my main game, but not that I have leveled up to 76. Should have learned from before to never upgrade on the first day/month;)

I also have only one game on my iPad. I could restore from yesterday's backup, but I would lose my progress in the three not-at-all-buggy, not-at-all-difficult-to-update games that I play on a daily basis. "Fixing" Airport City isn't worth that. It shouldn't have to be "fixed" at all. It should just work. It doesn't.

I do know what you should not do: you should not try to delete the new app and re-install it. Yes, it does help in the sense that now it did show the 'pick which version you want to load' window. But what also happened is that I could now choose from current level 1 and level 1 from the first time I downloaded the new app. My old game was nowhere to be seen.... I guess that's the punishment for trying to be self-sufficient... :cautious:I don't dare to touch or open anything anymore, I just want my game back... :dead:

I know it might be rocky few hours for those who transfer from iPad and/or had multiple accounts. Please endure, and write a ticket to support team if everything's not going the way it should.

Despite our best efforts, our servers got more demand tonight than we expected, thus server connection errors and sometimes very long time needed for profile transfer. We're working on fixing it.

Not necessarily what I wanted to hear, but I do appreciate you responding. Hopefully, it will get cleared up sooner rather than later. Also, assuming it takes a day or more to get fixed, will GI reimburse for the lost greenies - I currently have a mint active!!!

I've d/l, deleted, d/l again and I don't have the problem you have. I still have my original game icon which I was using, where I can get to lvl 80. I tried d/l again as I was typing this and this time when I picked the server version I see the easter cheer event! I've lost several hours of progress, my screen doesn't zoom in as tight as it used to but it seems to be working! Also, didn't get my 10 green!!!!
Trial and error? Timing? GI fixing behind the scenes? Who knows anymore!

Thanks Ivan. As someone who works in the IT industry and in software development I can empathize with the situation. Despite the best laid plans and all the testing things still invariably go wrong.

This stuff can still be really hard sometimes (not that I need to tell you this) so I appreciate you taking the time to come update us and answer questions
 
If you played on iPad and installed new app and then started a profile transfer that has gone wrong and didn't finish - please DO NOT delete the new app. This will simplify the process of fixing things for us. Hopefully everyone who got level 1 after transfer will get their profile back just in a few more hours.
ouch - too late as already deleted the new app
