The desperate rush to level up

Some thoughts of mine while learning to play this game. Planetariums, planetariums, planetariums... oh the rush of experience points and charging up the levels. How great did it feel! I've been playing for about 12 months and I'm currently sitting at level 77 so it's easy for me (you might say) to sit back and advise newer players to reconsider your rush. Sure, I've done reasonably well. I listened to a lot of good mentors in here. I took on as much advice as I could, but we always want to do it our way. And I did too.

First of all, consider what you will gain by levelling up... more places to visit? More things to buy? More buildings to build? Reality check - In the very short term, you get a box of passengers in your warehouse, a barrel of fuel and a full tank refill (don't you hate it when you didn't see the level up coming and your tank was still almost full :banghead:). And then the desire to do it all again :ROFLMAO:. I would say to most players that the rush is short lived. You can't afford the new aircraft, you don't have the resources for the new destinations and often the frustration is even worse because you now have a higher percentage of guest planes that you can't land because you can't afford the runway they need! Very, very frustrating. I bought bigger planes and found out quickly I was out of my depth. On several instances, I bit the bullet and sold those airplanes off simply because I wasn't ready for them. Even now I've only just moved on to jumbos, having done almost everything i can with the predecessor aircraft types. I.e., all the stars, adventure maps, space maps, side quests etc. Patience, Robby said, patience. No time for that, I thought!!

One thing I did learn along the way, was to get whatever resources I could stockpiled early. I built 6 flight catering facilities as fast as I could, before I needed them. I've almost never had to ask for FC as a gift. Then laundries, sweets factories and furniture factories. I'm only just needing blankets now and I have 1100 in my warehouse. Lollipops, beds and sleeping pills? 1000, 800 and 100 and growing and I'm not close to needing them yet. Ultimately it means that when I do start to use them, I can ask for other flight items that I can't get enough of myself and I won't have aircraft sitting idle because I don't have the flight items needed to fly them.

I'm no expert. My city is progressing well, but is a long way off the masters of the game, many of whom frequent these pages. Just providing the thoughts of someone at a theoretically high level (77) but only a medium developed city who learnt some lessons rushing more than he needed to.

Everyone has different wants and needs to the next player. That's the beauty of this game - so much diversity. By all means, do it your way but listen to the veterans (not me!). They know what they're talking about. Most of all, enjoy what you are doing. (y)

Where you find the discrepancy in the rush to level up is that the level ceiling doesn't raise very often. Some people do have a need to level up quickly, but it is not many.

When I started this game the highest level was 35. Then it went to 40, 45 and 50. That is where I caught it. By the time they raised it from 50 to 60, many people had hit 50 and had built all the items that were available to build, so there was a rush to unlock the next level terminal, town hall or control tower.

When blankets were needed for Giant flights, we were in a rush to level up to unlock the laundry and begin stockpiling them for flights. Same with Sweets Factory and so on.

I missed almost a year of the game due to my tablet not being able to update to V4 of AC, so I still spent all that time doing nothing but excavations flights. Those excavations flights gained me many, many collectible buildings and many gold and silver chests. When I recommenced the newer version of the game, I was behind in levels, but had the advantage of being able to catch up with thousands of unfinished collections. Because of my patience earlier, I could then level up between 60 and 75 without doing one single flight.

I could then unlock the furniture factories and collect beds and E-readers while I finished my Giant flights. Just today I finished my 6th Pharma lab, but I am at least 6 months, probably one whole year from taking my first Condor flight. But I will be stocked up and ready to go when I do. I also rushed to level up so I could purchase excavation maps from Duke twice every week. I won't need them for a long time, but I can only buy 5 at a time and I will need hundreds so why wait?

Having the foresight to know which tasks you want to tackle next (even if it is only because of the reward on offer) makes it easier to plan. Think long term. Think of all the people who gave the game a 1 star review because they couldn't get to level 50 in one week, or because the Turkish Coast flight didn't drop them a computer. This game is long term. If it is instant satisfaction, you're on the wrong game.

Is the hotel worth building? I've searched here and in the wiki but not really found something for or against it.
I mean the small one where you need four bracelets and such.

The hotel was initially needed as part of (a Hollywood-themed) Cinemania quest. You needed the collect the items to finish the hotel which dropped bow ties. The VIP lounge and Retro Movie Theatre were also required, but I don't remember why.

That was almost 5 years ago and strangely I haven't seen that quest recycled.

As for coins, hotels are not worth it. Pays 57 per hour. Bowling alley pays 58 and needs no completion items.

Having the foresight to know which tasks you want to tackle next

Thanks for your comments. Is there a guide somewhere on which quests are worth doing? I didn't find one when I searched now. I'm still at a low level and so far, the rewards were not overwhelming, so I don't bother with them any more currently - as several suggested here anyway. But I guess there are some lateron where you gain unique items that you can't get without greens otherwise. So a list of those would be nice.

I think the uniqueness needs to get built over time.

For example I started flying the green maps to get QLs for launches. Not only do I have QLs now to use but I also have two abandoned space ports to help with my population. More importantly the more freq launches I've done with the QLs has gotten me collections that include gold chests that I can eventually use for things like Casinos, Mints, and Banks. Still a long way from the 200 gold tokens for a building like that but I'm building up to it

I'm just starting the mesoameroca maps and suspect that will build up to other more unique things

I have nothing to say.
Hahahaha.....

But between me and the game are competition.
I expand what available, I finish every task, now land is the only left.
I bought it now 1 land every 2 weeks.
Even now 110 greens on sale.

Consistency is important.
Consistency in doing adventure.
Consistency in doing QL mining.
Now even consistency in doing Alliance Map.

Be smart.
To colect coins, just visit Planetariums and red launches.
But you may need to activate Sky Captain and BC to get more.
Learn how to get SC.
Learn how to get BC.
Use Golden Toad, and dont forget to use Inconvertable Coin before it.
All those combinations are the beauty in the game.

Levels show nothing, but you need to get there.
Use Lucky Cap if available and combine with JOD.

Soon we will have a big update.
So much things will happen, including bugs.
Some will be gone some will come.

No need to race, coz race will make you focus on rank.
Race not fair anyway.
How can a guy fly 7 mill and still have 300 stars while to get 500 flights in Condor only need 450k for 3 stars.
But hey, what you get?
1 QL or you prefered 1 Golden Dice?

Just focus on your city.
Patient and Consistent.

Good Luck Pilots.

You may have to think out off the Box.
Not doing step by step from the bottom.
Down step by step from the TOP.
Do red and collect water world collections.
Easier because every Box for 1st rank will give you 2 collections.
By 6 boxes you can get 1 collection the worst.

Doing the excavations flights are definitely worth the effort. Some can even be done with a turbo prop, so they are accessible to almost everyone.

The reward building adds population and you also earn gold tokens from completing the collection set. Even if you don't need the poplation increase now, later down the track when you are in the high-70's level, the town hall will not be big enough to accommodate all the population needs of the buildings you want to place.

I have 72 buildings on my city (=3600 extra population) and would use more (150+ in storage) if there wasn't the 6 building limit.

Population never really an issue, coin buildings are not needed, adventure buildings and as many passengers as you can fit will do. As for levelling up, ni real rush if no new planes so use those bonuses that have zero use the rest of the time, lucky cap and jod. Earn some coins with others while you're at it (y)
