Are helicopters profitable?

In my experience, no. You have to spend gold just to get the supplies you need to make a flight. As i said already, I've removed all traces of helicopters from my city if possible and have no plans to bring them back. If I can't make profit then whats the point in having them?
What are your thoughts on this?
When you look at collections and spaceflights, NOTHING is profitable in comparison (in coins). Not even planes. What's the point in having them, huh?
I have an account on lvl 50+ that only ever had 2 turboprops flown once a day to prove that you don't actually need planes in AC. No control tower, no repair base, no flight school - I can remove the planes without any trace there ever were any.

Just for the record (small sample, but the variability seems small):

With 10 flights to each: SPARROW FLIGHTS
Yellowstone - Avg Cost: 41.90 Avg Profit: 8.10 Est. Profit/Min: 2.03
Lake Baikal - Avg Cost: 58.30 Avg Profit: 6.70 Est. Profit/Min:1.12
Snowdonia - Avg Cost: 66.20 Avg Profit: 13.80 Est. Profit/Min:1.73
Fiordland - Avg Cost: 83.60 Avg Profit: 11.40 Est. Profit/Min:1.14
Banff - Avg Cost:102.00 Avg Profit: 8.00 0.67

Crossbill once I build my L2 repair station (pending 2 items).

I am running Sky Captain and Fiordland yields an extra 380 per flight which works out at 2280 per hour or 4560 with two Helicopters

and how much are you spending to make both your supplies and fuel to make these flights? - remember to deduct that. Also if you are not doing a 100% duty cycle that profit rate will fall further.

The cost of making them were in the figures posted by Therkyn, so each flight is 380 profit on top and as they only take 10 minutes a flight, the hourly profit I posted is about the same (obviously running the bigger Helicopters, the profit is even bigger, some are 2000 a flight).

I worked out I needed 500,000 for a new Plane which I could do in approx 17 days, but with Sky Captain my balance jumped from 280,000 to 430,000 in 24 hours, cutting 5-6 days from that figure

Just hope I can get Sky Captain again soon

Right I have another Sky Captain to use once the maintenance is finally finished, so with the extra time on my hands I worked out the hourly profit on each Helicopter with Sky Captain (this is the pure profit from Sky Captain and doesn’t include the normal profit from a flight).

So a flight to Yellowstone takes 4 Minutes and yields 50 coins, so these figures are not included below with the Sky Captain profit

Yellowstone 4 Minutes at 200 coins a flight gains 3000 profit an hour
Lake Baikal 6 Minutes at 260 coins a flight gains 2600 profit an hour
Snowdonia 8 Minutes at 320 coins a flight gains 2400 profit an hour
Fjordland 10 Minutes at 380 coins a flight gains 2280 profit an hour
Banff 12 Minutes at 440 coins a flight gains 2200 profit an hour
Iguazu Falls 15 Minutes at 596 coins a flight gains 2384 profit an hour
Angel Falls 20 Minutes at 764 coins a flight gains 2292 profit an hour
Victoria Falls 25 Minutes at 932 coins a flight gains 2236 profit an hour
Niagara Falls 40 Minutes at 1440 coins a flight gains 2160 profit an hour
Rideau Falls 60 Minutes at 2116 coins a flight gains 2116 profit an hour

Sky Captain lasts 24 Hours, so decent profits to be made

Also the Helicopters can be sped up gaining further profits

My 1st paragraph covered that, this is actual profit as costs are eaten up by the normal coin yield which i rightly haven't included

So to Fjordland it's 95 Coins plus Sky Captain bonus of 380 coins

Cost is free as I have only posted the Sky Captain bonus and not the
minus the cost of making the parts though
