Lets say all of my land is currently used up and I needed more power. Lets also say I have a bunch of coal stations and I am debating about one of the two options:

1. Replacing one coal station with one Tesla, and not buying land, or
2. Buying land and building 4 coal stations.

At my current level, new land cost me 30 greens per 4x4 space, when on sale. The cost of 1 Tesla is also 30 greens, so there is no savings on greens with either option.

If I were to buy land, the 4 coal stations that I could put into 1 4x4 space provides 240 units of power (4 coal stations at 60 units of power each)

If I were to not buy land and replace 1 coal station with 1 Tesla, I would gain 300 units of power, but since I am replacing one coal station, your net gain of power is only 240 units. That is the same number of power units as the first option above.

So it is a wash from a greens point of view as well as a power point of view given that your land is full and it would cost you 30 greens to expand. If land is cheaper than 30 greens per 4x4 space and your land is full, then buy new land and build more coal stations. If land is more expensive than 30 greens and your land is full, then replace one of your coal stations with 1 Tesla at 30 greens instead of buying land. Obviously, if you have land to spare then build something that does not cost greens.

Before I did this analysis, I did buy 2 Teslas because I had lots of greens at the time. But after thinking about it this way, I am going to fill my airport side with as many coal stations as I can since the coal stations provide the most amount of power per unit of land that does not cost greens. I will replace them one at a time with Teslas as my power demand increases, since land will cost me 30 greens or more when on sale.

Tesla is a luxury for those with greens to spare.
Power station is the cheaper option (less greens), especially if land still cost 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70.

Land (4x4) = 20 greens, Coal Station is more value
Coal Station: Land (2x2) = 5 greens, Electricity 60 units, so cost is 12 electricity unit / greenie.
Tesla: Land (2x2) = 5 greens, Tesla 30 green, Electricity 300 units, so cost is 8.6 electricity / green

Land (4x4) = 80 greens, Coal Station & Tesla is even
Coal Station: Land (2x2) = 80 greens, Electricity 60 units, so cost is 6 electricity unit / greenie.
Tesla: Land (2x2) = 20 greens, Tesla 30 green, Electricity 300 units, so cost is 6 electricity / greenie.

As land gets more expensive >80, then Teslas becomes the economical choice.

You have to buy Land anyway. Too me Land first.

At present, I'm unsure about whether to build up greens for Tesla, or simply start spending on Powerful Wind Turbines or Solar Plants. I have 12 Wind Turbines, 2 Solar Panels as well as 2 Coal Stations. The Wind Turbines occupy too much space, and Solar Panels are a waste of gold coins. Most of my Wind Turbines are either scattered, or if four, in a straight line, but not in a 2x2 block.

I'm thinking of replacing each Coal Station with two Powerful Wind Turbines, each time I get 6 Greens, from both the Weekend Code as well as going a level up. Solar Plants seem more useful, but a little too expensive. I don't have any Banks or Casinos to generate greens.

Depend on how big your airport side.
Remember, land is the most expensive thing in game.

If you are not planning on spending real money on your game I would suggest you save your green notes for purchasing land during the land discount window period, which takes place once every two weeks. The next will be on Friday 20th January, when a weekend code will be issued and you can then collect 3 green notes and 2,000 coins. The other way to collect green notes is when you move up gaming levels, which I'm sure you already know about.

As for your power supply - multiple Coal Station's are good at 8,000 coins and 60 electricity for each building.

But, if you are planning on spending real money, at some point, on your game then ignore the above. It is very much up to you and what you want to do with your game. But, do be careful, it is very easy to spend more money than planned, once you have taken the first step.

For me I use a lot of Solar plants (4000 coins) as I can use them in between road pieces. As for teslas, wait until land is 30 greens half price and buy them instead of land as 1 of them is better than buying land and putting 4 coal plants.

No it's not. My city is a very poor example of this but unless you're paying 30 greens per plot of land (on sale, of course, never buy land when it's not on sale) coal stations are the way to go. Coins are easy to generate. Greens aren't. Hence coal stations. 30 greens for a plot of land starts at your 101st expansion. Then land will become more expensive than power and Teslas are the preferred power source...

Buuut, if you're willing to spend, go green! Turbines, Solar Panels (you'll need the room though), Solar Stations and Teslas! You can keep your city more compact... :greedy: I have a power supply of 2800 with 60 1x1s...

That is what I meant.
Land is the most expensive, so dont buy if you dont need.
Of you have some lands, max it.

Focus to the city expansion.
Anyway, not really a trick to plant electricity.
Just do match.
And use the coins one.

Neither. Build Coal Stations.

Do exactly opposite. Buy more Coal Stations. Weekend code greens should be saved to buy land on sale. Coal Station is the most space efficient producer that can be bought for coins, so there is no point of buying any other. Sell every other coin-bought power producer.

For me I use a lot of Solar plants (4000 coins) as I can use them in between road pieces.
Good layout leaves no gaps : )
