Sounds like you game is not saving. Visit Madlen as the last thing you do when you exit the game.

Spy glass doesn't affect the coins. Use sky captain, business class or comfort class for coins with planes. I know that sky captain works with helicopters but I am not sure about the other two.

There is nothing to increase the drop rate. You can increase the rate at which it regenerates and is ready to be clicked on though.
