Windows 10 1809 update

Has anyone done the update to the dreaded 1809 yet? Mine has downloaded and is awaiting restart, but I'm scared to death to finish the update. (I keep changing my active hours so it won't restart automatically) On the last big update, I ended up with a black screen and a spinning circle, no restore points, and had to reset windows and restore all my games. Luckily the rest of my computer was backed up.

My fingers are crossed that microsoft doesn't force the update - will wait another week or so to see if there are any more problems.

I noticed yesterday my computer was slowing down, very sluggish. I checked task manager and saw windows update was busy, busy, busy. So I checked in settings and saw it was updating to 1809. I'm usually one of the last to get updates (my other 2 computers don't have it yet).

I think it was the big update windows we got last April or May that killed the computer. (Apparently, since I had advanced system care on my computer, it gave me black screen A lot of other people had the same problem) https://www.windowslatest.com/2018/...-version-1803-and-iobit-advanced-system-care/

It also destroyed my system restore, so I couldn't boot, and couldn't go back. Had to do a windows reset which lost all my programs (but saved my files). Just afraid every time now when we get an update from Microsoft the same thing will happen. Nervous Nellie here. :D:D:D

Im 1803 too. With no sight of another update.
I don't know whether to feel special or doomed! :wideyed::wideyed::wideyed::eek::eek::eek:

I vaguely remember that this update was due in the fall. However Microsoft delayed it because it was too buggy !!

Fortunately it has not yet reached across the atlantic.

I think you are probably 'special' but in a Guinea Piggish way :D:D:D

I'm on the 1809 version still early october (fool was I to accept the installation as soon as it popped on the computer).
And seems I was lucky enough to have no issue with it, but probably I have nothing weird in my installation (no specific User moved folders for example).

So I cannot tell it works well for everyone, but for me, no issue with this version...
After 3 (or 4) redos, maybe Microsoft got it right this time. :D:D:D I'll probably do some backups, then go ahead and let it install.
