New Users Guide for Gifting

It would be useful if new users got some guidance on gifting. Just something I wish I would have known when I was at lower levels.

Now that I'm at a higher level, I feel bad about not returning all the landing lamps, radio transmitters (I have 177), fuel supplies and air conditioners (73) that I get but I'm beyond the need for those things and have too many already. I don't want to return them and encourage people to continue sending them.

So, here it is.

We're all limited to sending only 20 gifts per day but many of us have well over a 100 friends. So you need to be clever when it comes to sending gifts otherwise you'll be sending more than you get back.

When gifting items for flights, look for people who are at a similar level and are probably looking to receive the same things.
  • If, for example, you want items to complete level 5 flights, it's probably best not to send these items to people who don't have a level 5 runway yet.
  • If you want items to complete level 2 flights, don't send them to users who are at level 30+ because they likely have 100s and are looking for items for level 5 flights. If these people get more than 20 gifts a day, they are less likely to return yours.
When gifting items to complete buildings
  • don't send to people who haven't attained a high enough level to construct or upgrade the building - more than likely, they won't be able to gift it back to you. You can find out what level a building need when you view the item in the store.
When it comes to items for major quests
  • Send items to friends who are in the highest levels. They are more likely to be working diligently to achieve the tasks for the quests and will return these items more readily than those people that aren't completing the tasks.

This is what I do.

1. The first 5 in my received gifts will get a return. Yes I do not like it when someone gifts me stuff that I needed a year ago. However when I was on lower levels I did appreciate people sending in those items so I will return the same. Sometimes it will take a couple days to get you returned. Drives me crazy when they send me something but then in the name have a complete different type of wanted gifts.

2. The Second 15 is all forum members and regular daily gifters.

I agree @Chad Ladwig. By returning those unwanted items to those lower levels, I think they are more likely to stay engaged in the game and are less likely to quit and will one day be able to trade with me the items we BOTH need. Also, even committed players sometimes quit playing the game and I need friends to replace them. Lastly they are more likely to keep me supplied in landing lamps should I ever need to again fly a turbo-prop for an event.

I think Happy Helen got the basics right.
Newbies should be on the right track if they stick to this.

++ Make your gift count by sending your neighbours what they need:) ++.
-- The worst thing to do is send special (aka "useless") items and hoping it will be returned --
If in doubt, send passengers or fuel because even advanced players need them.
@Bail Hi I have sent a neighbour request to your iOS account. Please accept it.

Is there a list somewhere of what items can be gifted? Whenever I build or update a new building I look for where I can get the items. If I know that an item is not available from gifting, than I don't have to put it in my game name.

Have you tried checking AC wiki? Link it is the blue bar below. Otherwise, you'll have to wait til you actually start building (or upgrading) and it will show you then what you need and (usually) where you can find it.

Yes, I tried that. For example, I have upgraded my town hall to level 4. I need 4 items. I know I can get 'shredder' from friends, but the game doesn't say that I can get it from friends as a gift.

When I go to wikia and look up shredder, it says the same, but not that it is giftable from friends.

That's why I was wondering if there is a list somewhere of what items I can ask from friends.

This how G! makes it's money, you will fly forever to these destinations then at some point you get frustrated and you either quit or spend money (as far as I know nothing drops from these destinations until later when you at level 65 then suddenly you have 99 shredders and you only need 4)
This is the point where you need to think out of the box otherwise you will spend your hard earned real money unnecessarily.

Besides, you have this forum with over 1000 members all you have to do is post your needs in the trading discussion

So, I am hoping somebody can help me. When my neighbors ask for gift of items for CT13 - I get that they want control tower level 13 items, but I am trying to find out where I can get a list of which items are required for each level of control tower. Or at least for level 13 so I can gift my much valued neighbor please!

Airport Wiki. Link at bottom of page. Search control tower and you'll get list of all levels except the last one that came out 2 weeks ago.

It's not complete but I use this:
CT12 [Touchscreen, LED lamp, Trackball, Ergonomic keyboards]
CT13 [Video Cube,Time Server, Monitor Mount, Compact Photo Printer]

T11 [Patrol Robot, Massage Chair, Self-Balancing Scooter, Sorting Robot]
T12 [Passport Scanner, Fire Alarm, Iris Scanner, Water Dispenser]

TH11 [High Speed Elevator, Pneumatic Capsule, EV Charging Station, Air Purifier]

If you’re next tower upgrade is the same as that of the person you want to gift, then you should have one of the required items in your available gifts (you can’t necessarily send the item if you aren’t at the required level to upgrade your own, but it will still be listed in your list of gifts to send). In the pic below, the giftable fire alarm is an item required for the next tower upgrade, but the game is at level 79 so it’s not yet available to send.

If you tap on the building itself, it will tell you what the next upgrade is. There is a small box icon (see arrow below) that tells you what items are needed...

However, if your next upgrade is not the same level, you won’t be able to send them what they want, regardless.

With all buildings that require multiple upgrades, you will only ever have one of the items available to gift. As soon as you upgrade your own building, that gift will disappear and a new gift will be available based on your own upgrade needs. Once you are at the top level, you can’t help anybody.

I've had some F20 gifted to me from forum members when I really have nothing of interest to return to them - Due to me being at level 26 with no space program. I have been returning most times, is this best practice? Can I assume they do so because they want in return? Perhaps some are being kind but there's no way to know this.
F20 is a bit like a default gift for lots of us. It’s one item that doesn’t go in the bin. If you cant gift what is on game name, f20 is the best option. You’ll be getting f20 too as you don’t have a preference on your game name. Similarity I assume it’s ok!
