That’s not uncommon. The prize for the quest comes when you complete the event. I can’t think of many of these quests where you got a big reward for finishing side quests. Getting a Spyglass part way through is also a pretty darn good reward for finishing a simple task, so it feels like sone people just want to complain about everything
For whomever said there was an ios bug and they didn't get a Spyglass you should open a ticket. I am on iOS and it came through for finishing one of the side quests.

For a new player, the side quests may be good to see which tasks have to be done in order to progress in the event. Yes, you are in some way able to get an overview on how to complete the event by pressing the event-icon, but less-experienced players most likely struggle more than experienced players this way. And as mentioned in the thread earlier, some side quests buffs your droprate for that particular task.
I also see side-quest (rewarding you coins and exp) as a mission for first-time players and new players, which helps them progress more within the game. Players who have done the event earlier, don't get these side-quests repeated.
Pitty about no prize at the end, but I would not expect getting a prize for side-quests because they are waaaay easy to do. Dont forget all the exp and coins you get for completing each of the 28 tasks

We got the straitjackets in the last one, so I think that's why many people thought we may get something similar in this one. Maybe 10 aerosols. Especially as there are so many side quests and one of the gifting items available only exists to complete these side quests. Which all seems a bit pointless and overkill for a relatively small number or coins.

I posted that I didn’t get the bonus, thanks for letting me know iOS did get the spyglass. I will consider a ticket after they complete my current ticket for the soul net bonus.

I think tHe only bug was the soul net bonus. It was fixed with an upgrade a few days ago.

The straitjacket bonus (if it was the 10 I am thinking about) was part of a weekly bonus code. It wasn’t tied to a side quest and it was likely some form of compensation for the bug.

We got 10 s.jackets from the weekend code. It was as Dave is specifying, a compensation for the bug and nothing to do with side-quests.

For the completing the sidequest:
I got a box in my warehouse named "orderly set" which contains 20 s.jackets. I think this was from the side-quests. However, I can't remember that I got a notification that I got the prize upon completing the side-quests. I just happened to spot the box in my warehouse one day

No, this was separate. People said there were straitjackets given at the end of the quest. But, as I didn't complete the side quest, I can't say for certain.
Anyway, that's why there was an expectation that there might be something similar, but we obviously don't get anything in this event.
At least now I have no rush to finish the side quests and players know not to care too much about getting the Leyden Jars.

Only way to get them is to complete the collection from the Black Wraiths.

You can only have 6 in total.
1. You need aerosols. You can get them by flying to event-destinations or get them from your neighbours as gifts.
2. Find black wraiths in your city (most effective way is to active soul net bonus)
3. Use aerosols on black wraiths to make them disappear. Black wraiths may drop items you need for the Witch Costume.
4. Completee one set of costume, gives you a Halloween Shop.

You can only send one of the event items to your neighbours. Which gift you can send is predetermined.
There are 3 items for this event: Aerosol, Bright Lantern and Leyden Jar.
For myself, I can only send Leyden Jars.
