I flew over this in a light aircraft only a couple of months ago! Jabiru is a small town (pop ~1000) in the middle of nowhere and was built entirely on the basis of a nearby Uranium mine. The mine is set to shutdown in the next few years and be restored to it’s natural state and then returned to the land owners, Australia’s indigenous Aborigines. It’s expected that the township will become a virtual ghost town.
