All about fuel for planes

This post discusses fuel for planes. There is also fuel required for helicopters and rockets that can found elsewhere on the forum.

When you start the game, you have a fuel capacity of 30 units.

As you send out flights, the amount of fuel you have goes down and it replenishes at a rate of 1 fuel unit per minute.

For each level you go up, you get another unit or two of fuel added to your capacity - your first level up will increase your maximum capacity from 30 to 31 units of fuel.

A full table of fuel capacity at each level is available in the wiki https://www.airportcitygame.com/wiki/experience_fuel_level/.

Restoring Fuel Faster
The game automatically replenishes one unit of fuel per minute until you are full to your maximum capacity. But there are other ways to restore fuel faster.
  • Fuel meter - if you tap on the fuel meter at the top, most platforms allow you to watch a free add to earn 20 fuel. This offer is available up to 5 times each day - you just have to wait between videos.
  • Fuel station - Build this in your city so you can run fuel contracts that will be added to the fuel counter when collected. 1 unit @ 20 coins, 8 units @ 150 coins. https://www.airportcitygame.com/wiki/fuel_station/. As you level up this building, more contracts become available
  • Gifts - When you start the game, you can only send 3 units of fuel. By the time you reach level 10, you can send Fuel (20 units). When you accept gifts of fuel from friends, it gets added to the fuel meter. These gifts don't have to be used immediately, but must be accepted within 7 days.
  • Land guest planes - each guest plane you land will either add a few passengers to your terminal or a unit of fuel.
  • Leveling up - when you go up a level, your fuel is completely restored - even if it was at 0. Make sure to watch your experience levels (the first number on the screen above) and try to make sure you have as little fuel as possible before the game levels you up.
  • Secret faucet (6 greenies) increases the amount of fuel restored by 1 unit each minute for 8 hours. So you get 2 units restored per minute.
  • Fuel additive does the same thing as a Secret Faucet but only lasts for an hour. This can be purchased during events from the event store or sometimes as a free gift from the bank
  • Subscriptions You can buy a silver or gold subscription that will increase the rate of fuel restoration for an entire month

Increasing your fuel capacity
You can purchase two buildings that increase you maximum fuel capacity. Information on these buildings can be found in the wiki https://www.airportcitygame.com/wiki/industries/.
  • Small oil refinery (purchased with coins) - when fully upgraded, it adds 65 units to your maximum capacity.
  • Powerful oil refinery (purchased with greenies) - when fully upgraded, it adds 95 fuel units to your maximum capacity
You can also temporarily increase your maximum fuel capacity. You may want to do this if you are saving up fuel to fly map flights (you will get to maps eventually).
  • Bottomless Barrel - this doubles your maximum fuel capacity for 8 hours. If you maximum fuel number on the screen is 50, this will allow you to produce up to 100 fuel. The fuel doesn't disappear when the timer on the bonus ends (although there is a bug on some platforms that the fuel does expire). You may want to start this before going to bed. Then you wake up to lots of fuel. This bonus is much more worthwhile when you get to higher levels.
  • Extra fuel can - this bonus does the same thing as the bottomless barrel but only lasts for 1 hour and only adds 20% to your fuel capacity
    • Note: These bonuses don't "stack". They are both calculated on your base maximum capacity.

Warehouse Fuel
The next thing to know about fuel is that you can have some in storage in your warehouse. You get this for some tasks and achievements like when you level up. Fuel sent as gifts cannot be transferred to the warehouse.

When you tap on this fuel and "use" it, it gets added to your meter on the main screen. Don't worry about adding too much. If your fuel meter is at 50/50 units and you add 50 units, your meter will say 100/50. You won't lose the fuel. But your game will stop producing fuel until your fuel meter is below the maximum.

Fuel stored in the warehouse comes from multiple places
  • When you level up, you are awarded Fuel (50 units or more - and up to 300 fuel units for leveling up to level 71 through 80) or more as you get to higher levels
  • Achieving stars on some destinations comes with a fuel reward
  • Some chests contain fuel. For example, the Mystery Set that can be obtained by landing guest planes and completing the Lost and Found collection can contain Fuel 20 or Fuel 50. A Gift Set and Large Gift Set can contain Fuel 20 or Fuel 50.
  • Fuel 20, Fuel 50, Fuel 150 and Fuel 300 can also be obtained from space flights. Based on your standings in the launch, you can earn from 20 to 150 fuel for each launch of green and blue and 300 fuel for 1st in red launches.
  • (OLD event style only) Fuel (10 units) only comes from rewards from participating in events. Each day, prizes are awarded based on your standing in an event. Be sure to check and collect your reward each day or you will lose it.
