Airport City 7.0 Beta is Out, What's Next

I'm not sure when the next beta release will come out (probably late next week), but it will contain numerous bug fixes / tweaks and some other changes that will make it to general 7.0 release, too.

Mystery Buildings
  • Gray High-Rise is moving to Mystery Building 2, so both Mystery Building and Mystery Building 2 will have 9 buildings each
  • Mystery Super Building 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 will have 9 buildings instead of 10
  • Astronaut Academy, Collider, Einstein Tower, Silent Hill, and Steel Skyscraper are moving to new Mystery Super Building 9 chest
  • MSB 9 will also have more recent event reward buildings: Institute of Seismology, Park of Kisses, Sports Arena, Central Telegraph
  • MSB 10 is coming as well and will feature following buildings: Alamo, Tour Truck Park, Enigma House, Innovation Center, Time Tower, Asylum, Pharaoh Statue, Fair, and Shopping Mall
Gift Sets
  • The pool of rewards is changing for Gift Set and Large Gift Set:
  • Fuel 1, Fuel 3, Passengers (5) and Passengers (10) are going out as being useless rewards;
  • Flight items, repair items, weather items and duty free items are all going in as possible rewards (there were some omissions previously, we didn't update those chests for a long time)
UI
  • New icons for population and electricity
  • New icons on the main screen for the Flights, Store, Warehouse, and Collections (the infamous one here is Flights that has the same icon right now as Planes in the Store & Warehouse which is kind of confusing), as well as Airship Store
  • Some new icons for the side quests in the Quests menu
  • A bit smarter tool helping you get where you need to go by using Show Me button in the Quests menu
  • Upgrade Hint Arrow (the green arrow on top of the buildings that are available to upgrade) will be hidden at max. and min. level of zoom starting with level 8, so everyone has an unobstructed view of their buildings without going to screenshot mode
  • Icons above planes in the airport zone will move a bit so they don't obstruct a view of the planes
Music
  • Next beta release will include the music tracks I've told you about yesterday; after the update is installed you need to play a bit and re-launch the game for new music to start playing in full
Shorter Flight Times
  • Several flights for Owl (Turboprop) plane have their time reduced:
  • Turkish Coast, Washington D.C. and São Paulo are down from 1 hour to 30 minutes
  • Bali Island and Arctic Station are down from 1 h 20 minutes to 40 minutes
  • Goa is down from 1 h 40 min to 1 hour
  • Malta and Cape Canaveral are down from 2 h to 1 h 20 minutes
  • Thailand is down from 2 h 20 min to 1 h 40 minutes
  • San Francisco is down from 2 h 40 min to 2 hours
Other
  • A couple more possible repair items for all planes starting with Giant plane, so all planes now have a pool of 4 possible repair items each; no completely new items here, they're all 'recycled' from earlier planes

It's all right! I've joined the forum originally in 2013 because I felt an obligation to give community something back in return for the invaluable feedback and bug reports. Nothing has changed in that regard since then.

Here goes an idea to reward your most loyal players: why not extend the daily reward series so that, instead of repeating SMB1 as a reward every 25 days, we could have, for example: an MSB1 after 25 days, a MSB2 after 50 days, a MSB3 after 75 days... and so on until MSB10, and repeating from SMB1 afterwards... that’s a lot of consecutive playing days ;)

I'm afraid those things sell too good to make them available for free, even with those long consecutive playing days in mind. We intend to support the game for many years ahead, and it'll be hard to do if it goes bankrupt.;)

Really? Never imagined that, perhaps because i'm too scroggy to spend THAT amount of greenies for a 1:9 chance of getting what I want.

Really. If it wasn't 1:100 chance of getting money out of players (because there's roughly 1 paying customer for every 100 players who play for free in free to play games in general), we'd be out of business long time ago. God bless paying customers! ... And all other players, too, of course.

No sarcasm here, I'm a paying player myself in other games and sometimes paying is just the best way of saying 'thank you' if I like any particular game (or the company that develops it) and want it to live long and prosper.

No wonder almost all recent reward buildings have been this bad..so that people buy those chests. Very clever and mischievous. Even the discount sales were raised:rolleyes:

I wrote at great length about the reward buildings about maybe a month ago. Whatever reward building we can provide, it will be not good enough for those who have huge cities, a fleet of 10+ planes, etc. and with 22 special events per year with every building better than the previous one (that's what everyone asks us for, right?) by end of year one there'll be a reward building that produdes 10 spaceship collectible items per day, produces Airport Cash and boosts everything by gazillion percent around it within a 10-tile radius. Nothing to do with chests, it's just not happening, we have this whole game with 500+ buildings that we want you play besides those special events however cool they are.

The beauty of free to play games — despite their many shortcomings — is that everyone pays (or doesn't pay) for the things he (she) wants to pay for instead of paying $60 outright (okay, it might be $5 on a Steam or Xbox sale, but nonetheless), and developer can adjust future development of the project based not only on his own vision, but on feedback and statistics. I'm not saying it's better than other business models, there's a place in the world for fantastic single player games with no in-app purchases whatsoever and many others, but free to play games aren't inherently evil with every decision made to squeeze out more money out of players, as it might appear if you read player comments to free to play games, Airport City included, on the App Store, Google Play, or this forum.

As a general rule, we don't fix any bugs or add anything new with updates, we just reduce number of buildings, one building per update.
If this is rare bug it might take some time to find why it happened and fix it.

I had the same problem - I could only see the props on my turboprops, and the flame on my rocket, and it seemed to start just out of the blue. Turns out it was my computer - not the game. When I got my new laptop, the game was just fine. Can't remember if it was after an AC update, or a windows update. It was kind of funny seeing the props coming down the runway, and the ball of fire flying through the air. :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

You are part of the game developer and am part of the player so they is little to no way your way of thinking can be the same with mine. I get your point unfortunately you dont get mine. So am just going to assume the buildings are "useless" since the events are easier and repetitive. But most buildings were better off way before this ratings system was introduced in terms of production, thats why I clearly said the msbs are bait (since way back previous buildings were so enticing). Hope you get my point this time but anyway..business is business so i get your point

Ivan, I have in stock about 200 barrels with different fuels. In version 7.0 .. I will cut them to 100? Or what I saved will remain and the limit will be on the newly acquired fuel?

As already stated countless times. The resources you have in your warehouse will remain. You will be unable to add more resources to those in the warehouse after you have hit the magic 100 number. You lose nothing.

As you’re cleaning up my city side with difficult decisions, I’ll give you an easier decision to make: please make the Planetarium, Astronaut Academy and Alien Legacy available for the airport side as well. Then I can do some cleaning up myself...
As for me I would hope at the end of Age of Ash the whole thing is covered from the eruption and all GI has rebuilt for us is the runways, terminal and tower. If I could choose to eliminate some things, duty free, and helicopter production can stay in storage.
