If you are not thinking of flying Condors yet, you don't need Lvl 7 hangar and the Pharm Lab. I'd say you need to start flying Falcons and maybe Thunderbirds first. Especially since the building you're talking about for 150 electricity is the Nuclear Power Plant and it's available from flights...

Using SC with helis is about the only way to make them profitable. As otherwise they bring as much or less coins as it costs to fly them.
