I thought I was being click-baited.
Do you mean the Omega Hotel in the Alliance Office? There would be very few players with that many resources to burn on a population booster. Sure, +500 pop. on a 2x2 square rather than a Grand Hotel +300 pop. on a 3x3 square is nicer but almost anyone with 500 gold would rather recharge C/B/M to get greenies.
Anyone that could afford to burn that much gold would have to be be a long term player with 1000s in the bank from thousands of red launches when they were so much easier to do. I would suggest that no player that has started in the last 12 months would ever get the chance to do it now unless they had a very hot credit card.

I already have over 6300 population and only using 4800 of it. I would much, much rather spend my gold tokens on c/b/m reactivation! Also have a couple of grand hotels sitting in my warehouse if I get desperate. Now if Omega Hotel offered greens, even if only 1 or 2 per day, unlimited length of time, I would definitely buy one. But I'm finding now with the new repair items, I'm not needing quite so many greens (great move GI - love those repair items).

what if a player doesn't have cbm, and there are no more promotions to buy cbm, would be a interesting building to buy??

I would still have a hard time spending 500 gold tokens for just 500 population. I think I'd rather spend the tokens on S2 planes. There are so many buildings that will increase your population well above what your town hall gives, event buildings, adventure buildings, etc. But we do need a method that will allow players to get greenies. I think what would really be great, especially if GI is not going to offer the cbm's again, is something that would let you buy greenies using gold and/or silver tokens.

About the Omega Hotel - just manage your pop. Stash the buildings you don't need, because you don't need ALL of them. To field enough buildings to use that pop, you need absurd amount of space, and if you have such space, you can use it to field the Grand Hotels.
The new hotel sounds like an offer with extremely narrow audience: people who have more coin/greens/gold they can spend and have already bought all land. In that case, why not : )

Then you hold your tokens for 2 years waiting for the CBM offer to come around.

Once you start consistently flying award destinations and start building the respective buildings, you will be able to remove another "free" pax boosters like Abandoned Spaceport, Space Needle and Grand Hotel. I currently have 0 of first and second and only 3 of third. I plan to store further Grand Hotels after I build few more adventure buildings (don't forget, they drop collectible items daily
).So I would suggest first to buy and upgrade a Reserve Hangar 2 with your gold, then save some reserve of gold tokens and just then start considering spending your gold for S1/S2 planes and any other building.

I must admit to being very disappointed with the eventual Omega hotel and what it gave out. So it’s not even remotely on my list of things to get.

I was wondering about that hotel myself. Now that i understand it, no point even considering getting it for it is pretty much a waste of gold

Exactly. It is really useful building however so I'd suggest save your gold tokens for it. The mentioned price is for lvl1 - 2 free slots and two slots you can open for greens. Then you could upgrade it to lvl2 - another 250 gold + 3,000 silver, another 2 free slots and 2 more you can open for (more) greens. And so it goes to lvl5 - there you will have (as far as I know) 8 free slots in total and 8 more you can open for greens (so in total you'll have 16 slots in the Reserve Hangar 2).
