Wow. Time flies quickly. Today marks my 1 year anniversary of joining this forum. I had heard of Airport City a year or two ago, and was interested, but for some reason never took the plunge. One day, I finally decided to give it a try.

Well, obviously the rest goes without saying. I loved it immediately - I have always been a big fan of builder type games such as Roller Coaster Tycoon, The Sims (1 & 2, never made it to 3 on that one yet), and of course, the Sim City games. There have been a few airport type games before, but none of them has been this interesting, or well thought out (And, for all of it's faults, if you really look at it, this game is very thought out).

Also found out (Much like everyone first does when they start out), that's it's not a particularly easy game to advance in, unless of course you spend real money, airport cash, coins, etc. That's when I decided to go check around for forums, as quite a few of the games I've played over the years have had them. Found quite a few, but was drawn to this one. Not quite exactly sure why, but obviously having the developers associated with it, and actually post and respond in it, pretty much sold me on it.

One of the wisest decisions I've made in a while.

This place opened the game up, and made it more achievable. I lurked for quite a while, checking out the various areas, and seeing how the people were. Everyone welcomed me with open arms, and ideas, assistance, the what items you can't gift, and pretty much the same thing we still do now.

Those people that were my first neighbors - And luckily, most of them still are: @KenDuckySmith, @HS72, @Rainer, @WhatHappenedNow, @yenta613, @ItsRalphy, @PeterNL, @Wired Parrott, and many, many more - gave advice and helped me fit in, which was really cool. I've met some really good people being here. We've helped each other out with gifting, questions, guidance, suggestions and lots of ideas. We've joked endlessly in the forum about all kinds of nonsensical stuff, but it entertained everyone and we had a blast.

Then the lean times came in, where no updates were coming, glitches were happening all the time, people were resetting to other levels, no events and, well, you know how it was. It got pretty dark and dingy around here, and some people left because of the game not moving forward. Yes, some of these things are still occurring, but they are far, far more infrequent then they ever used to be.

Those people that left are missed: @strats, @Phlflyer1, @Mr K, @uyetti (Of course, this was another matter, but he is also still around once in a while), @Cluck (Again, this was another matter, and if anyone has any news about our favorite water the flowers girl, please PM or let us know!), and a few more. They will be missed, and hopefully they will come back.

Then, one of our more enterprising members, came up with a whole bunch of ways in an attempt to make this place better, until the much awaited, and promised update was delivered. And so, Rocket J. Squirrel Productions was conceived. If you weren't around for it, some parts of it are still around (Jokes, new members, Birthdays, etc.), but it was the brainchild of one person, and implemented by a few people recruited by him to help out. Personally, I believe this helped everyone tremendously. Did it bring the update quicker? Did it stop the glitches? Resets? No, there's no way it could.

@rocky was the brainchild of those things, and he did it because he loves this place. Both he and his wife love the game, and this forum. Rock is a very quiet guy (Well, most of the time, he DOES have his moments of chatter!), but has a heart of gold. He and his wife do so many things that most people probably don't see or know to help members, but some of us do. Thank you Rock and Mireille, for everything you've done, are doing, and knowing you guys, will do in the future. It is very much appreciated!.

I would also like to make a special shout out to @m-bari / @m-bari3, and @SactoDave. In addition to Rock / Mireille, both of these guys also took me under their wing and helped me so much. And they all still do. Thank you, I very, very much appreciate everything guys!

We've had a lot of great people join us over the last year too. All of you have been welcome, and hope this place helps you out, and you have as much fun, as I have.

My apologies for the length and semi overall sappiness in this post, but being out in 108 degree weather all day will fry peoples brain cells for a while. And, please, if I didn't mention you, believe me, you are not forgotten, it's there are too many to name, and too little time, but thank you all as well!

@Ten33go - I very much enjoyed reading your post, a brilliant piece of work, extremely well written - a standout piece - I've often thought we should have a 'best post of the month' and a small banner, perhaps a quill pen/ink pot shaped design, which could be placed under the avatar picture.

Being curious - can I ask if you have made adjustments to your signature?

@Captain WH Rollins - LOL, thanks. Wasn't going to be that long winded, and it veered off course from where it was really supposed to go, but I forgot that I shouldn't post too much after I get home from work in the field all day.

In answer to your question, yes, I changed it a bit. In no small part due to your thread, in which you stated some visual difficulties in certain people's signatures. Plus, I didn't like the way it came out on the phone, and PM views of it. So, tidied it up a bit, added a couple of new twists, got rid of some others and for now anyway, that's the way it'll stay... Until I decide to experiment again. :p

Yesterday I posted an updated document (version 3) - which I've re-written and updated with new headings - having spent quite sometime thinking about things - your signature looks better, dare I say.

@Captain WH Rollins - Thanks. Hope it's easier to read for you, and anyone else that was having any issues with it. Also removed most of the usual flight items that everyone has, which shortened up the gifts to send segments quite a bit actually.

Good morning to all flyers (08.30am GMT London)

My early mornings 1st July plunder brought in 16,700 coins and 16 launch ready blue chests, of which just 3 (large fuel tank's x2 and powerful explosive bolt's x1) were high valued resources. I've finished gifting my 20 gifts for today and have updated my signature. My thanks once again for all of the gifts received.

@Ekenna - gifted 3rd Solar Cell - 1 left

I've read your signature post with great interest. I've tweaked mine a bit... :)

Third time's the charm! I finally managed to get @Ekenna a Solar Cell after botching the two previous attempts. I figure the set is complete?

During June's game play the following business took place, by my gaming standards, I've had another productive month.
  • land purchased - 1 plot (10 green notes)
  • buildings purchased - (1) Apartment Hotel (690,000 coins - 6 days waited), (2) Coal Station's x4 (32,000 coins - 8 hours waited), (3) Apartment House (870,000 coins - 8 days waited)
  • future buildings/plane upgrades - (1) Private School (350,000 coins - 6 days), (2) Science Museum (420,000 coins - 6 days), (3) upgrade red hangar to blue Falcon Hangar (120,000 coins - 2 days), (4) upgrade powerful delta plane to Falcon S2 plane (20 gold tokens and 200 silver tokens), (5) Control Tower L9 (1,400,000 coins - 8 days), (6) Terminal L9 (1,200,000 coins - 8 days), (7) Town Hall L9 (1,350,000 coins - 8 days)
  • buildings removed from warehouse - Smart House x2, Perfume Store x2, Chess House x3, House of Doubt x2, Private Conservatory x3
  • red flights/rewards - 22 launched (344,000 coins, 34,600 experience), 7 chest's - Space Conqueror 3 - (120 silver tokens, 1,200 fuel units, 24 large fuel tanks, 16 items from the Water World Collection), 13 chest's - Masters of the Universe 3 - (260 silver tokens, 3,900 fuel units, 26 main stabilizers, 26 items from the Water World Collection), 13 chest's - 13 maps from Edge of Tomorrow, plus 4 completed Water World Collections - (20,000 coins and 8,000 experience), plus 4 Golden Chest's (12 golden tokens, 40 silver tokens, 600 fuel units, 8 spaceship launch items), 1 chest - Space Hero 3 - (10 silver tokens, 50 fuel units, 2 large fuel tanks, 2 items from Water World Collection), plus 1 Rocket Garden
  • blue flights/rewards - 1 launched (5,000 coins, 500 experience), 1 chest - Space Conqueror 2 - (6 silver tokens, 100 fuel units, 2 large fuel tanks, 2 items from History of Space Travel Collection)
  • green flights/rewards - 4 launched part of the smaller resources series of flights (4,000 coins, 500 experience), 2 chest's - Space for Starters - (2 silver token, 40 fuel units, 2 solid fuel, 4 items from the launch preparation collections), 1 chest - Space Conqueror - (6 silver tokens, 100 fuel units, 2 large fuel tanks, 2 items from Space Odyssey collection), 1 chest - Seasoned Astronaut - (2 silver tokens, 40 fuel units, 2 solid fuel, 2 items from Space Odyssey collection)
I had expected June's plunder figures to have levelled off to around 600,000 coins and 500 launch ready blue chest's. This month's figures have continued to increase and have become the best to date, since first recording statistical data in February (12 neighbours per day x 5 buildings per neighbour = 60 buildings x 30 calender days = 1,800 buildings visited for June).

Below are my daily plunder figures for June, I've also included May, April and March for comparison):
  • 27,000 coins and 21 launch ready blue chests
  • 24,100 coins and 21 launch ready blue chests
  • 21,800 coins and 15 launch ready blue chests
  • 22,400 coins and 18 launch ready blue chests
  • 23,300 coins and 20 launch ready blue chests
  • 25,300 coins and 22 launch ready blue chests
  • 36,500 coins and 26 launch ready blue chests
  • 21,300 coins and 20 launch ready blue chests
  • 27,300 coins and 22 launch ready blue chests
  • 11,000 coins and 12 launch ready blue chests
  • 20,300 coins and 14 launch ready blue chests
  • 13,800 coins and 15 launch ready blue chests
  • 11,800 coins and 11 launch ready blue chests
  • 10,700 coins and 11 launch ready blue chests

  • 26,500 coins and 22 launch ready blue chests
  • 29,800 coins and 23 launch ready blue chests
  • 18,700 coins and 17 launch ready blue chests
  • 18,100 coins and 15 launch ready blue chests
