For those late night flyers/ pilots and crew who may be out soaring o'er the Northern Latitudes this New Year's Eve; you might want to look further into the sky and see one of natures own spectacular light shows as the Sun just 2 days ago released a Coronal Mass Ejection powerful enough to knock out some communications in parts of the Southern hemisphere. The CME is expected to hit Earth 12/31/15 so hope for clear skies.
I might just take a drive out to the countryside and park the Celestron Telescope on the hood of the truck aiming toward the Northern skies, myself.
