DR950 and I had a similar discussion here. I used some spare time at the weekend to put all user information together and created an excel sheet with all the items the users here can send, as far as they have wrote their gift list down in the forum.

Because of not every user having posted a list of the items she/he can send, I do not have data from all of them. And I just went through the threads of the trading section. So if some user has not created a thread there and just posted one message in a trading thread of another user, I wasn't able to include her or his items, because it would have been too difficult for me going through every single message in every (trading) thread.

Unfortunately some users did not create a complete, clean list of their items and just wrote down some items or general terms like "tons of purple shit", which I could not identify for sure. But it has indeed become a very astonishing list though!

We were right from the beginning thinking about items everyone can send, just depending on the gained level of experience. And then there are various combinations of items and items truly no one, who has updated to a version after 1.31 (rockfest mission, visiting neighbours), is able to send.

I am not sure, if I should really share that list in here, because it might get one or two people into really a lot of neighbourship requests
Because then everyone is able to see very fast, who has not updated the game AND is able to send a lot of items, no one else can send...

I would like the two users to give me a sign whether to shout out their names or exclude them from my list, as far there is enough interest in sharing it.

It would also be very nice, if the users, who have not wrote down a list of the items they can send at all, to do this right now. It would save us a lot of unnecessary requests and posts. So everyone could get the required items faster.

I also thought about that problem before, the only solution I came across so far is, that I have to go through all recently updated trading threads frequently to update my list and put it online again.

And the list has no relation to the needs of users, I just shows what users are able to send. If you need some item then, you will have to go through the list itself on your own. But believe me, that is a very easy task

The advantage of my solution is, when you need some really rare item, it could be difficult to find that user(s), who can send them. You definitely can do that also with a thread with blankposts and just the signatures in there, but after 20 postings, there will be a new page. With every page it makes the searching more difficult. With a growing community here there will be more and more pages.

In the sheet, I find that item, that I want and it shows me the users who have the item at one glance.

For sure, the blankposts with the signatures are easier to update. But after reaching level 32, there are no more new items that a user can send, so the list would be finished then, containing 31 items a user (with a recent version) can send.

I am not really keen on continuing this list, I just was curious so I created it yesterday. I am also not sure about publishing it here, because 2 or 3 users will get a lot of neighbours for sure and it leads to the question, if we should assist people in searching items in google or in here and just grabbing the few required items without any further interest in trading or discussing in here...?

As mentioned before: I created such a sheet, I don't really know whether to upload it or not and if that really is the best technical way for that kind of making the trading easier. Maybe Dave has something to come up soon, that will be much more easier and more integrated in the forum, than an excel sheet?

In the meantime I lean back and relax, knowing whom to ask for my required items

At the moment im looking at implementing the idea suggested by Dee, that each day a new thread is created in which people can post what they need and what they can send.

The benefits of doing it this way is that all the information is contained within one thread, and that only people that are active (ie paying an interest in what you are looking for) will get items.

Whats peoples thoughts on this?

I think the main advantage is having one thread that is always up to date. I find myself going back and forth between different threads looking for info about what my neighbour needs, only to find that the info is several days old. If you have a daily thread you know: this is what that person needs TODAY. Also, having all the info in one thread means you don't have to go through 20 or 30 of them each day.

Maybe a useful tip for fellow neighbours: I use a notebook to keep track of the gifting. I have 5 columns listing date, neighbour, item sent, item received, item needed. When I open the game I fill in the gifts I have received from my neighbours. Then I go to the forums and try to find out what they need, fill in that info. Then i go back to the game and send out the gifts. When all the info is collected in one thread it's even easier to make a list like that

I think adding last update time in the signature will be helpful.

I understand what xp afraid of. Because of some rare item only exist in small group of person, those will make some uncomfortable for the person that flooded by neighbor request.
