Should personal trading threads be closed?

Its been about a week now since we started the Daily Trading Thread and I personally think its been very successful, its certainly easier to look through the one thread each day rather then having to look through about 20!

The problem is, people still seem to be posting in their own personal trading threads. Now I have no problem with this, however a lot of new members seem to be signing up and creating a personal thread rather then using the Daily Trading Thread and in theory are missing out.

Ive posted messages all over the place regarding Personal Threads Vs Daily Trading Threads and was wondering whether the time has come to close the personal trading threads and have everything conducted in one place in the Daily Trading Thread.

Whats everyones views on this?

Hi Dave thanks again for your work.....i think it is a good idea..i have not visit my trade page since you started the daily trade page ..It is so much easy, save a lot of time and all members can join and share their needs. New member have a better idea abou what is goin on in this forum...

The signature was the braking point in our search for items

I also only use the daily thread, so either way you can lock my personal thread

I'm just a bit concerned if you close the ptt's that people who don't bother to post in the dtt are going to start threads or post messages in topics all over the place requesting items..

Do you guys think it would be easier if we pinned a master thread where everyone has their account in alphabetical order and you only have to look at the sig? People would only have to update their sig instead of making going into the daily thread and responding info in sig. Sometimes I have to go through old threads looking for people to see what they need.

I like the idea of a pinned thread that you can browse through to look for signatures. I also go through older threads sometimes to look for users. However, alphabetically that would be impossible, because everyone would have to post in a particular order. And you won't be able to add anyone in between. I'd still use the daily thread for trade, but a pinned thread with just signatures would be a good way to find a specific user. I do think that the pinned thread should be closely monitored and remove people who don't actively trade.

The pinned thread with signatures isnt a bad idea, i'll have to have a look into it and see if theres an easy way I would be able to do it. The only downside being someone could join up, post their signature and not show again - Would need a lot of work to keep it upto date.

As for people posting elsewhere then in the DTT, I'll do what I do now and simply move their posts into the DTT and send them a polite message. Members that just spam what they want in unreleated threads get a warning and their posts deleted.

Thanks for everyones views and comments, really appreciated. I'll leave this open for a bit longer and see if anyone else wants to comment. So far its looking in favour of closing the personal threads and keeping it to the DTT.

I think the daily thread is the best way, but I do think w all souls post our thread Tue way you laid it out with ie:
USER MAME
FRIEND CODE
NEEDS/WANTS
iTEMS THAT CAN Be SENT
This way makes it easier a lot of people say see signature and yet when you look at it there's nothing there also how do we know who to ask for certain items if we don't know who can send them? I think the way you suggested is the true best way "if it isn't broken don't fix it" keep the good good very good work up Dave B)

I dont want to get rid of the daily thread, but If we had a pinned master thread it would be nice just to reference people. The daily thread is a lot better than the person thread.

OT is this website tablet friendly? I was on my android tablet and the website is stretched horizontally forever.

Actually i'm starting to realize I don't know what the signature is or how to find it... which is why I do the list, I think its the best way any way though especially for a newer user since its all there to see

Edgar if you go to your screen name up top right of this page.

1. Then click on your name it will take you to your profile page.

2. on the right side of the page It say in a black tab "edit my profile." click on this.

3. Now on the left side there is a list of tabs. 5th tab down is your signature. Click.

4. You can now edit your signature, and every post you make will have some information at the bottom like mine below.
