General Random questions

Now that i'm playing for one month and learning from the best here, I have a few questions that I didn't find a clear answer so here it is :

-To join a neighbor blue or red launch, am I required to have the proper level for the MCC (MCC2 for blue and MCC3 for red) ?

-Those who have more than one Planetarium are those who bought a mystery super building 2 chest ? I assume it's not possible to redo the quest a second time.

-Are there building I should have in my city to help neighbors (like MCC, Planetarium, etc...) ? Are there a good list of must-have in each city ?

-Is there a list of best housing to gather pax ?

-Do we have a good strategy to collect stars ? Concentrate on each flight destination till 3 stars or send them to a few destinations ?

I wanted to play the game optimally and those questions will help me attain this goal. It will also be helpful for the new players.

Yes, you need to have proper level of MCC, and proper Launch Pad, if you want to join.

-Those who have more than one Planetarium are those who bought a mystery super building 2 chest ? I assume it's not possible to redo the quest a second time.
There was one quest when we got planetarium. All the rest we got (read: must bought) from Duke store ( mystery super buildings 2). I bought about 60 or 70 of those, to get 5 additional planetariums. I bought them last year, when price for one was 19 greenies... There are several that have 10 of them, from days when GI allowed to have 10 of same buildings (reward buildings)

-Are there building I should have in my city to help neighbors (like MCC, Planetarium, etc...) ? Are there a good list of must-have in each city ?
You just concentrate on yourself now, to reach higher level and expand your city. Concentrate on sub-quests to earn some more coins, visiting neighbors daily, especially those with 5+ planetariums, cause you can get lots of coins from collections.

-Is there a list of best housing to gather pax ?
Depend how much time do you play every day. There are building that gives you pax on 15, 20 or 60 minutes, or few hours or more. So the best was to get more pax is playing more often.

-Do we have a good strategy to collect stars ? Concentrate on each flight destination till 3 stars or send them to a few destinations ?
I am doing step by step, 3 stars every destination, then next one, or combination with planes. If I had 10 or 12 the same, then i did one destination. If i had 2,3 or more different planes, then i did different destination on same time. Of course, depends of pax and fuel.... Fuel is always a pain...

I see now, that i wrote the answers after your question... You can find them :D

If you are just starting out, it is better to fly to different destinations to spread out your plane arrival to optimise your fuel / passengers utilisation. Speed up your planes on longer flights if you have excess fuel.

Once you have enough coins and start flying excavation maps, then you may want to fly exclusively to these destinations on 1 type of plane for a certain period.

Also chance of item drops increase if you click on flight in quick succession, so flying multiple times to same destination and clicking them in quick succession (in hangar or runway) makes sense.

Ok, Bali, since you brought it up ...

I've been trying to star collect for a while now. (Simply because it seems to be the best move for me right now.) As a result, I've been doing the whole one normal destination at a time until 3 starred then moving to the next normal destination until all normal destinations are three starred for that plane type. I've been wondering if I should keep to this method or if I should add in the same plane level for the adventure/excavations/alliance/etc flights before switching out planes for the next plane up. Thoughts? (Because they were introduced during my game hiatus, I previously didn't know enough about the special destinations to understand what was required so I left them untouched. Now, I'm beginning to understand them and so I've been wondering when to start flying them.)

1) Flying repeatedly to same destination until you collect 3 stars is a good strategy as you can get a higher weekly Top 100 reward chest (better than if you fly randomly to many destinations). This should be your strategy for Jumbo / Giant / Falcon flight (not necessarily so for Turbopropo / Jet / Delta where timing matters more).

2) I usually fly the excavation maps during lull periods in between quests. I sell all lower level planes and buy a new fleet. If you have plenty of coins, this is a more efficient way to get maximum flights / drops out of the hard-to-get maps. Nowadays with reserve hangars, it is also possible to switch planes if you buy plenty of reserve slots. You should have at least 5 or 6 same type of planes at least when you do excavation maps ( the more the better of course)

3) Excavation flight is also an option to do when you run out of flight items (propellers, fuel hose etc), as they only require an active map and do not require flight items. Make sure you have 6 / 12 /16 hours to spare, I usually this do the in the evening.

I also stock up on maps from the Duke so that I can fly to these destinations when I run out of flight items. Again, map chest drops seems to be better when I click on 2 or 3 map flights in quick succession.

4) Maybe you can try the Mesopotamia Excavation first because its is cheaper to buy turboprops, require less passengers and you can speed up flights with less fuel.

5) A new quest might be coming soon in September 2016 (hopefully), so don't sell your fleet just yet.

Thanks!!! That explains a lot!

Right now I have 6 jumbos and 4 giants. I still have three more normal destinations to 3 star with the jumbos and then I'll see where we are with timing of a new quest before maybe switching things up.

And you're right, with my current strategy, I do tend to get weekly destination rewards.... This week looks the most promising so far... Top 5 for Mexico City and top 10 for Oslo. *rubs hands*
Now if Oslo would just drop these last three Observation Drones... I could get another plane... And I now know exactly what plane I want to buy. :)

Yes.

Yes.

-Are there building I should have in my city to help neighbors (like MCC, Planetarium, etc...) ? Are there a good list of must-have in each city ?
Planetariums, then Training Centers, eventually Astronaut Academies.

-Is there a list of best housing to gather pax ?
Stone Castle is the best if you can collect it every hour. The shorter collection time, the better pax output, but you can't stay glued to the screen to tap Cottage every 120 seconds. So, best housing is the one with time slightly shorter than your out-of-game time. For me they're Smart Houses, Mansions and buildings from the Wedding event.

-Do we have a good strategy to collect stars ? Concentrate on each flight destination till 3 stars or send them to a few destinations ?
It doesn't matter, mostly. Planes have very similar fuel/hour consumption, so whenever you fly big, small or mixed fleet your natural fuel is enough to keep about 12 planes in the air at a time. The total number of planes is the key, not their type. So, in theory the best strategy is to focus all planes on that one flight that can upgrade your Tower and sell them all and move to next type as you build next level of Tower. But of course you have to upgrade your passengers production to keep up with bigger planes and somehow get the millions that Tower and 11 Giants cost, so the dash to 12 hangars turns out not very fast at all. But it's still the fastest imaginable strategy. I excluded spending hundreds of real dollars on hiring extra planes to do 225 flights in 30 minutes : )

Generally, low level flights have faster turn-arounds and lower count requirement, so keeping one low lvl plane to 3-star it's destinations seems feasible while you focus more of bigger ones to complete the harder ones.

Flying to Adventure and Space (and any other with time-based map) locations require different approach, as you need as many planes of a given type as possible in order to send them out before map expires, so I'd recommend leaving that until you have all regular destinations 3-starred so you can sell entire fleet and commit it to doing that Adventure flights.

Alternately you could do the map based flights once you finish the regular destinations of each specific plane type.
So for example say you have a fleet of all jets. You 3 star the regular destinations, then assuming you have any maps
that use jets, you could do those thus saving some coin output.

Yes, but if you have a fleet of jets then most likely your Tower is not very upgraded, so it's still not many jets.

You listed the important one yourself: the planetarium. If you choose not to spend greenies:greedy:, on them, choose your neighbours wisely. Don't go for a neighbour visit with less than 5 planetariums. They are enough neighbours who have'm.

If you have plenty of room in your city, go for a couple of Grand Hotels to boost your max pop.
Also build the reward building from the space launches: Alien Legacy, Space Travel Momunent and Rocket Garden. They boost your max pax with 20 respectively and yield an item from the launch prep collections every 24 hours.
Both are a good option instead of spending gazillions of coins on Town Hall and Terminal levelups and begging neighbours or flying weeks on end for the necessary construction items. I said: when you have room for them, @Agent_L !;):p:ROFLMAO:

Yes, here it is :LOL::

- Townhouse (greenies :()
- Smart House
- Stone Castle (greenies :()
- Multi Story Building (3x3, though)
- Modular House
- Condominium (3x3, though)
- Apartment House

They are excellent pax/hour yielders. 'Best' in their class, looking at regen time.
The 3x3s in the list aren't that great if you look at pax per hour per tile, though...

I think grand hotel is well overrated - I think better option is to fly to adventure maps - each adventure building gives you extra 50 population. I'm now at 5k+ pop and without need to add any grand hotel for silver tokens.

Yes of course adventure buildings trump Grand Hotels any day of the week, in coolness alone , @Kesh . It's just easier for us mere mortals... ;):D
However: a Grand Hotel only needs 9 tiles. For the same amount of max pax, adventure buildings need 54 tiles in 3x3s...

Very glad to be reading and learning more here. I've started on adventure flights and got all 3 stars for Stonehenge. What do I have to do to get the building? Can I just go for 1 adventure building of each instead of all 6? Was I supposed to start with turbos? (I didn't)

Depend what type of planes you have. And how many planes and maps.
You can fly for one adventure building or for 6 of them. (y)

You need 6 drops from every Stonehenge Adventure destination: Avaricum, Georgovie, Londinium, Bibracte and Alesia to get 1 Stonehenge.

Adventure maps are much different than Excavation maps. They are time based, so you activate 1 map and you send as many planes as you manage to squeeze in the time window. Obviously, the more planes you have, the more you can can send with 1 map, so the better utilization of this map. The good thing is that one location drops one item, so you can focus on the ones you need, not the ones you already have. The bad news is that you need 6 drops for each Adventure destination to get one building.

Good grief! Thats a lot of flying. I'm still confused between the adventure and excavation I guess. Would someone be kind enough to enlighten my old brain?
