I Have no choice but to switch my game play over to my tablet. Unfortunately that shortens my gifting options, and game play.
It is very important that I stop with my laptop. My hard drive is on the brink of crashing; around 10-15% of life left.
I cannot afford repairs immediately, but should be back up and working as usual after next weekend; albeit buying an external hard drive or blank media to create recovery disk, and purchasing another hard drive, (probably not from Toshiba, no doubt). 1 year parts and labor and 2 extended, and retailers know 3 years is the life span.
So much for spending much money on gaming system.
Good thing I took IT so can do my own labor.
Anyhow, I have transferred my entire game, again to my tablet, however we all know battery life is short, and cannot play while charging.

I've a brand new toshiba laptop a satalite series, i've had no problem, the only problem i'm haveing is win 8.1

@KenDuckySmith - Ouch. I feel for you. And I know at least for myself, I realize that some of us only have 1 game, with quite a few neighbors. I personally have to send out 2 sets of gifts to cover all of the forum members, as well as saving some for non forum members who I've had for quite a while.

I don't expect gifts from the same person everyday for that same reason. It's great to get them, all are appreciated and useful, but you have to take care of everyone and sometimes, either the game, the Internet or what we play on doesn't always cooperate.

Hope you get back up and running soon on you main system soon!

@ All - yesterday evening we had - I was ready to visit you and send my gifts - a blackout. At first I thought only my flat, than my neighbours and me thought only our house and then we saw that our complete road was dark.....1200 houses without power. A new experience. We decided to go sleep.

@KenDuckySmith - I have a question regarding your situation. In the one post above you said that you had Windows 10 only on your PC. Did you take advantage of the free Windows 10 upgrade that started 7/29 with certain people? If so - And this may sound really stupid, so apologies in advance - since it's an upgrade, similar to say, having Windows 7, and buying not a full version of Windows 8, but just an upgrade. If you ever redid the system, you had to install the Win 7 back, then redo the Win 8 upgrade if you didn't have the full version.

Or have I been under a rock for too long? Just curious.

Also appreciate very much the info you're posting and letting us know your progress, since we all may have to do something similar until GI does whatever it is they have to do.

@KenDuckySmith - Damn. That sucks. I know you've put a lot of work into trying to get it to work, it's sad that it was for nothing. Still hope GI can do something for you and you can get back to where you were.

@KenDuckySmith , That is terrible. Why can't you install AC and then copy your last game local data you saved? That should restore you to a working state (just like transferring the game from desktop to tablet).

@WhatHappenedNow That's just it. I've got 3 systems here that run Windows. And I've had to use my larger USB stick to recover all devices, so any data that was on the stick was wiped clean first. As the only one in house with IT smarts, I had to do everyone else's laptops and yet I do have AC on my laptop now, working under 8.1 again but I'm now a newbie waiting on GI like many others. As for the tablet; well it's more useless than useful until I try and speak with Toshiba support tomorrow.

I updated status. I just need to wait until recovery media is here and will have tablet back to its old self lol. Wish I could say the same about game level.

Hoping they can get me restored fully back to normal, however I just rolled into level 51 and built a sweets factory.
If I'm still on your list, try sending items needed for it, or just visiting city.
If your in the right city, the factory is located just inside entry to airport, next to repair base.
