Since a career change two years ago, I travel by plane only a couple times a year. This year, I flew on two Boeing 737s and one Airbus A320.

Prior to that, for about 15 years, I flew between 50,000 - 100,000 miles per year, mainly domestic US with some scattered international travel. By far, my favorite aircraft flown is the Boeing 787 in first class. My most common aircraft was the McDonnell-Douglas MD-800. I loved that aircraft because the engines are rear-mounted, so the front of the plane was very quiet. I also liked the SAAB
340 Turbo Prop for puddle jumping. The scariest aircraft I've flown on was a McDonnell Douglas DC-9. They stopped producing them in 1982, so the aircraft had to have been at least 30 years old, most likely older. It felt and sounded like the thing was falling apart while taxiing, taking off, and landing.

The one aircraft that I'd always wanted to fly on but never had the chance to was a Boeing 747.

So looking back, I've flown on these aircraft since my first flight in 1993:

Airbus A319
Airbus A320
Boeing 737
Boeing 757
Boeing 767
Boeing 777
Boeing 787
McDonnell Douglas DC-9
McDonnell Douglas MD-80
Canadair CRJ
Embraer ERJ
SaaB 340

Monday through Tuesday this week just flew Taipei to Hong Kong on an Airbus 330 (Eva Air), changed to Airbus 380 Hong Kong to London (British Airways) , then changed to Boeing 767 (British Airways) London to Rome - then, same day, Rome back to London on British Airways 319. Did the same in reverse 2/52 ago. Kinda jet lagged. Lol But mostly Airbus.

Upstairs on a 747 was always a fun ride for me. I think I’ve been on all of these except the 787. I’ve also been on the Airbus 321, 330 and 340 as well as a couple DC10s and even a 717. I’ve been on a few other military jets over the years as well.

When I travelled to visit my family, my father used to ask me what aircraft I rode on. I always told him, "I have no idea." He doesn't ask anymore... I don't know if that's because he gave up on me, or because he now gets that information from the internet when he tracks my flight .

Very amusing to me that this thread has people who not only notice what equipment they fly on, but who additionally remember it years later:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:.

I travel by plane at least twice a year. Not for work but for vacations. I don't pay attention what make they are. For international flights, I fly Cathay Pacific, Singapore Airlines, All-Nippon Airlines and Japan Airlines. For domestic, Southwest and Delta Airlines. Don't really care what make they are. The things I care about are the safety track record, price and of course, comfort.

I’ve just arrived home this evening after an 8 hr flight on a Singapore Airlines shiny new a350. A beautiful aircraft and so quiet! I sat over the wing and was amazed how little noise there was as the throttles pushed forward for take off. And you’ve got to love the flexibility in the new generation wings made from composites. :wideyed::p

I almost always fly cattle class but a chaotic 24hrs caused by a volcano in Bali, I initially missed 2 flights and had to rebook another 2. The first was over two hours late arriving so I missed my connecting flight home on a B787. $400 blown and gutted, there were few options left. Economy was very pricey at short notice and I was shattered so, with an 8 hr wait still ahead of me, I gave up worrying about the now melting plastic card and booked premium economy. Ahh, heaven... and 5hrs of sleep . So nice, but I’ll pay later when my next 5 years of travel will be down the back end again. :arghh:

Over the past few years I’ve been lucky enough to do 2 or three flights on the B787. Another beautiful newly designed aircraft which is spacious, has nice mood lighting, huge windows and, best of all, a much lower cabin altitude pressure meaning that you arrive far less fatigued and a lot less dehydrated. I’m still looking forward to my first ride in the quite unattractive behemoth, the Airbus a380. (My sister is a trolley dolly on one of them but I get no benefits :( )

Over the previous 9 days of this trip, I did 5 other flights in an a330, a320s and I think a couple of 73s (can’t remember?). All were with Air Asia (an airline which has a dubious safety record  and one that I had said for years that I’d never travel with - I booked these flights very late when prices were ridiculous so I justified my decision knowing that I was travelling solo and my family was staying at home). I was genuinely and pleasantly surprised! The service was fantastic and ALL of the landings were greasers (y). I’m still not sure I’d like my family on board, though.*

*Some of my close ATC colleagues were involved in an emergency with them recently when an engine fan blade blew out and caused massive problems about 20 minutes after departure. Massive vibrations through the aircraft were terrible and it took the pilots awhile to work out what was causing it. They declared a Mayday and turned back to land. To their credit, they were very professional and got the aircraft safely back with everyone safe. The only thing that raised my eyebrows was the alleged PA announcement to the passengers from the cockpit (I think before they knew what was causing the vibrations?) where the pilot suggested that the passengers might consider saying prayers! I later figured that the recommendation was probably a cultural thing but if I was on board, that would have made me need a change of underwear :nailbiting:. Unless it’s 100% that we’re screwed, I want to be told to “remain calm” :stop: and “we’re working on it”:headphone:o_O.
