The February 8 2016 update also brings us a new collection:
FullSizeRender (7).jpg

There are six new Falcon destinations that require maps:
Excavation Map Set: New World
Manhattan: drops Suit (seldom)
Brooklyn: drops Fedora (seldom)
Queens: drops Tommy Gun (seldom)
The Bronx: drops Switchblade (seldom)
Staten Island: drops Brogues (seldom)
Each flight is 100-200-400 for stars.
Every time you complete you get a Large Bronze Chest.
Collect six times and get Empire State Building.
I assume Duke's Airship will sell the maps. Until then, you can buy an Excavation Map Set containing 20 maps for five bank notes.
Cheers,
Tom

Wow you were quick Aj, I'll wait for duke to buy excavation maps and definitely wait for a land sale so I can actually build the things.
You can buy them in Normal store as well, 20 map's for 5 Green's, and drop rare is really good ( if you activate all your bonus :D ;) )
Got this building in 18-20 flight's to every destination (y)

No, this time flight duration is 3 hours for maps and escavations. The maps themselves are still active for 6 hours. That is an advantage because for stars we now have to fly 100-200-400 times.

What am I missing?

I bought some maps from Duke for coins. They don't go into the Flight Maps portion of the Warehouse, they go into the Other portion. How do I use them?

I'm such a newbie..... :cautious:

Those maps are not used in a "map" sense (that is that you activate a map, it works for some time and during this time you can send as many flights as you manage to squeeze in).
Those maps are used like a flight item (eg landing lamp). One flight uses one "map" and it's taken from your inventory when you send the plane. They're filed under "other" in your warehouse, just like flight items.

Today I started this quest by flying to Brooklyn, the destination that I had the most maps for -- seven.
In total I landed 41 Falcons, had seven Fedora drops and six Falcons needed repair. I used the Vintage Weathervane and Secret Faucet with Fuel Catalysts and purchased a Golden Dice. A good day.
Cheers,
Tom

Today was Manhattan. Same bonuses but much better drops. I landed 41 Falcons with 15 Suit drops and six planes went into the Repair Base. A very good day.

@greensmith With 6 Falcons needing repair, how many planes did you start off with? Did you pay the greenies to repair them or did you just fly however many falcons you had left?
@R3d_F1v3
I flew eleven Falcons (nine in regular hangars and two in Santa Sleigh hangars. My first eleven landed with no repairs. Three needed repair on the second eleven. None on the next eight and three on the final landings. I never pay greenies to repair them; that's why I have to wait until the next day to start the process again.
Cheers,
Tom

It looks I missed another trick here. How do you stuff a Falcon into Santa's shack?

Bob... It is a unidirectional process, straight from your reserve hangar to the sleigh hangars. You cannot purchase a plane from the store and put it directly into the sleigh hangars. In other words, you need dormant planes in your reserve hangar to begin with.

Tom... I believe AJ's testimonial was regarding the drop rates of the New World destinations. How about drop rates + your golden dice bonus from the excavation destination? Did you a get a nice random distribution of the 5 different maps. Or did you just spend the 12 greenies at Duke Crocker's toward the New Workld map chest. Past adventure-related missions; it was enough to 3 star the excavation destinations and still getting enough maps to 3 star the 5 individual destinations. With this one, because of the sheer number of flights required to 3 star these Burroughs, we probably need more maps per destination than usual. In other words, I will probably need to fly 600 times with bonuses to the excavation site to drop enough maps to 3 star the individual sites. What has your experience been? @greensmith

Thanks for the tip! I would have never guessed to try this.
Please, tell me then: once an ordinary plane is in Santa's Hangar it's stuck there, isn't it? I mean only a Sleigh can be put there normally. So the plane stays there until sold?

I bought one Old World Excavation Maps (20) Chest from the Store before the Airship Store opened to get a head start. Flew 20 Falcons using Spy Glass. Then I bought ten Excavation Maps from Airship Store for coins. Then again. When I started my Collection flights a few days ago I had 6/7/3/3/6. I've been getting at least six drops of each of the last two. Trying Staten Island today.
Again, Spy Glass for Excavation Maps and Golden Dice for the destination maps.
I'm going to buy Old World Excavation Maps for coins every time Airship Store opens. This is a long haul. It may take years to three-star all of these destinations.
Cheers,
Tom

No, you can transfer another plane in the Reserve Hangar to that Santa Hangar. Then the original plane goes back into the Reserve Hangar. You do need empty slots in the Reserve Hangar so that means spending bank notes.
Cheers,
Tom
