Which contracts do you usually use?
At a certain point in the game, I realize that I am constantly spending money to produce additional fuel. I ask you which ones you use at your level, and why. I also ask you if you can do without the fuel station.

I'm in the game a lot so I use the 10 minute contract. I've done that since I started the game. Overnight, I run the 4 hour contract (never the 8 hour because I don't sleep that long).

I also like to start the bottomless barrel bonus before I go to bed - that way, my fuel keeps producing.

Consider buying the small oil refinery and upgrades (coin buildings) or the powerful oil refinery (greenies building)

Personally I use the 4 hour that gives 108. Why I hear you ask? - well, i will tell you. I play the game in 3 waves - first thing in the morning when I am getting ready for work (sleep less than 8 hours so the 4 hour one perfect), similar to @Chloe11111. When is my second wave? - well when I get home before or after tea - so 4 hours again makes sure it is in, 12 hours is too long - and then around 4 hours or so later I do a last thing at night before bed - and 4 hours works for me.

Basically look at your playing cycle and plan from that. It is the same reason I have majored on buildings that produce passengers every 4 hours too.

Using a fuel station for additional fuel is one of the best features of the game - it only ever costs gold coins and you are earning those all of the time for free.

In the early game, 8 fuel for 150 coins is remarkably good value, and players under level 20 can usually afford that and 8 fuel makes a big differerence that early in the game and only takes 10 minutes to acquire.

The 36 fuel for 750 coins is very good value and takes only 1 hour. Helps get a bit extra for a little cost and does not take too long to achieve.

The 108 fuel is my standard gameplay fuel. Not that as good value as smaller fuel at 2400 coins, but the 4 hours fits nicely for many aircraft types, and the 108 fuel makes a big difference (I play the game by turning around most of my aircraft at 2 or 3 intervals during the day - this makes a big difference to my game).

Everyone has their own style of game, and fuel rings are a big source of fuel (thank you very much) but in this game, every little bit of fuel counts. I have always used the fuel station like I always spend gold coins buying maps and bonuses at Duke Crokers store twice a week. A little spend for a lot of benefit.

I'm sitting on a 12-hr contract that hasn't been collected in at least a week. I'm currently at Level 49

Up until I was in the 40s, I was probably using the 1-hour and 4-hour contracts regularly.

But now I've got enough fuel reserves in my warehouse (over 7000 units in the warehouse), plus another 100+ F20's in my gifts to be collected as needed.
My fleet: 3 Owl/Air Labs, 4 Hawks, 2 Eagles running pretty consistently.

Because of the way I stagger flights, it's usually only an issue in the morning getting everybody taking off at the same time.

I'm not a member of any official fuel rings, but I try to gift back any F20's for as long as I can throughout the day, and if I have any left over before the nightly reset I'll send out some random F20's to the most active players in my neighbor list. It's working out pretty well so far - my oldest F20's in my gift list are about 2 days from expiring so they've been sitting in my gift feed for 4-5 days now. If I get under 8 hrs remaining and it's bedtime, I'll go ahead and receive them so they don't go to waste.

I don't use the fuel station at all. All my fuel from gifts goes straight to my fuel bar, and I keep between 50-100 f(20) in the warehouse. (plus my f(50), (150) and (300). Way back when I calculated the best way to keep fuel rolling, and since I only visit my games maybe 3x/day, I found I couldn't collect enough from the fuel station to keep my 10 condors flying. Doesn't work for everyone, but works fine for me. Small loss from the station, but bigger gain by not having to go through my gifts picking out what to save and what to collect. After finishing some maps runs, I am probably at my lowest amount of fuel - about 120,000 in my fuel bar and 35,000 in the warehouse. Guess I'm due for more map runs.

Where does the vast majority of your fuel come from? Gifts, launching, or about an even split between the two?

I have used a mix of 10 min, 1 hr and 4hr - just depends on how active I plan to be.

Just have to remind myself, from time to time, that at roughly 20 coins per unit of fuel, the flight income will never cover the cost. So need to balance what my priorities / needs are.
