The past 24 hours I keep getting notifications that a friend has sent me an invite to become his neighbour, but when I enter game, there is no invites. This happens every 20-25 minutes!

Anybody else have this problem?

Yes I am having the same issue I got notifications and checking in the game nothing. Some say it is a bug how can it be fix It is quite frustrating. I am playing on Ipad 2 ios 8. Does anyone with Ipad have the same issues
