What we should use as time indication is UTC (Coordinated Universal Time) because we play with people all over the world.

When you need to use time, you calculate yourself what the intended time is in UTC and no one needs to look up all those different pesky time zones and their abbreviations because you know what UTC-zone you are in yourself... (y)

I don't really get all this folly with am,pm, civilian, military, pretending there is 100 minutes in an hour, etc, etc.
Why not just use normal time, that is day starting at 0:00 and ending at 23:59?

And as important things in game (like ranking starting Monday, 0:00) happens in Moscow time, I think it's the best reference point.

But I just realized after looking up on google & wikipedia that UTC and GMT for all intent and purpose the same... right?? UTC also ignores daylight saving changes?
Yup. GMT is commonly used. But since it's historically a British thing and the UK desires to leave the EU, European regulations stipulates we can't use it anymore. ;):ROFLMAO::LOL: Hence the more modern and scientifically approved UTC.

Haha, good catch on blaming everything on Brexit : )

@Bali Hi GMT can be up to 1 second off from UTC, so they can be considered the same if you can live with 1 second imprecision. In reality, 99% of times somebody says "GMT" he actually means "UTC".

Aren't the ones using am and pm the same people that use chains, furlongs, perches, rods and stones? :ROFLMAO:

We still do everything in feet and inches where possible and there's nothing wrong with that, always buy food by the pound.
I have always used GMT as the reference (every smart phone always have the major cities GMT zone listed).

this explains what I mean:

The world is divided into basically 24 time zones. For easy reference in communications, a letter of the alphabet has been assigned to each time zone. The "clock" at Greenwich, England is used as the standard clock for international reference of time in communications, military, aviation, maritime and other activities that cross time zones. The letter designator for this clock is Z.

Times written in military time (24 hour format) are four digits, such as, 1830Z (6:30 pm) with the Zulu suffix. Note that the phonetic alphabet is used for the letter Z (Zulu). This time is usually referred to as Zulu Time because of the letter assigned to this time zone. Its official name is Coordinated Universal Time or UTC. This time zone had previously been called Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) but was replaced with UTC in 1972 as the official world time standard changed. While GMT is based on Earth's rotation and celestial measurements, UTC is a based on cesium-beam atomic clocks. The two clocks are rarely more than a second apart as leap seconds are applied to UTC.
