This took me *minutes* to realize this is not some upcoming feature nor a "bonus" I haven't seen mentioned.
It appears to be a bug where collected coins icon seem to get stuck on screen. This particular one got stuck right there giving me false impression there's more to it.

Yes, I've seen others get stuck too. Seems to occur more nowadays. Sometimes can click and disappear but often restart is required.
