I know some will disagree but don't think 976 is enough to secure first place on a red launch requiring 3000 points. Some people play by a 576 rule but personally, I don't think that is enough especially if some hours have lapsed since the launch was initially made available. I always make use of the private launch facility until I pass 1500. Going past me after that is truly hijacking.

Half of the points required rather than 576 makes more sense to me.

This is just my opinion in the absence of specific game rules. Some debate may follow.

With 2 accounts, he’d input 1700+ points.
Allan is experienced and knows how it happened, he’s just warning others.

Its always a risk unless you lock others out of passing you by doing the math.

wait, if the number is more than 1680, how can he still be hijacked?

EDIT: ignore me. Hahaha.

But how is someone to know that it was the same person dealing from 2 separate accounts? Okay, both contain the letters AB - but they also contain lots of other letters. Game name analysis isn't part of my usual launch due diligence. I guess I'm making two points: Firstly, the private launch feature prevents hijacks and secondly, the lack of in game communication between players can be an issue.

Points raised for discussion, not criticism. Been hijacked. Didn't like it.

Unfortunately, there are no defined rules. The 576 rule has been bastardised and reinterpreted by many to mean different things. It’s primary use is to coordinate first position in a launch when multiple players are running launches in reasonably quick succession, especially when QLs are involved. Time and time again, people assume their own variations. Quite a few have their launch rules in their sig but that’s very hit and miss, especially with the 100s of new members coming in who don’t use sigs as religiously as they’ve been used in the past (many game changes have diluted the value of sigs to a degree, which is unfortunate in cases like this). One feature that GI haven’t managed to work out the code for, is reading people’s minds.

One solution may be to create a sticky thread and have a number of rule sets listed which can be marked in your game name while launching? Eg. PlayerX-LRule3. The combinations are huge so the process could be messy- especially anyone wanting to use variations on a rule.

Either way, it’s common courtesy if you join a forum member’s launch, you DO NOT pass first and you DO NOT LAUNCH until an attempt has been made to contact the launch owner. Then you need to allow that person some time to respond (up to 30 min (?) if no QLs are involved). After that, if no contact is achieved, then it’s a free for all. If the owner expects anything more, then that’s being naive and reckless, especially with the ability to make the launch private.

Lastly, apart from going “Private”, the ONLY way to guarantee you avoid hijack, is for a single account to add half the total points required for launch +180. Know those numbers. Green=980, blue=1180 & red=1680.
