I have been playing since January and have started my own Alliance. How can I find out at what level in the Alliance am I able to add players / what is more important tasks or passenger carry - I am confused after reading several fb posts.

You can find out what level alliance you have here - the top gold wings/cap icon. In here you will also see how many members you can have.

You can find out what the alliance tasks are here (yellow note pad icon). Mine shows they are all complete.

As for whether you want to fly passengers or tasks, that depends on what you want out of the game and what you want can change over time.

Many newish players want to maximize coins. So they have a goal to complete 50% of alliance tasks which gives you a week long bonus that increases income from flights by 50%.

Some people want their bonuses to last longer so they work on completing 100% of tasks.

Still others don't care about the weekly alliance bonuses, but they do care about being in the top alliances and they only care about how many passengers they fly, and not about completing the alliance tasks.

Exactly, but for a new alliance, you probably would have an objective of getting reputation points to eventually level up the alliance by completing tasks (usually at 50% to keep people happy). For a top 20 Alliance, you would probably need an alliance that has already leveled up to the Maximum and then recruit players at level 80 that built up most of their facilities to the Maximum. These types of players would typically care more about PAX count than coin so they could disregard task completion.

One problem I have seen is where alliances at lower reputation levels or membership slots would try to get into the top 100 Alliance rankings. I'm not saying it can NOT be done but that is a setup for people to wash out when they can't the PAX counts that would be required. I washed out because of that and it resulted in me overtaxing myself.
