@Gt city . I tried the weekend code in Windows 8 and does not work. Rebooted game, and computer. Code was attempted on more than one device also as there are 3 players, 3 separate devices, and accounts and still a no go.

You are doing it wrong.
Simply enter the code as if you are adding a new neighbour.
Go to "Friend Code" tab, enter code and Redeem!
