Windows Airport city format changed

R

Requested Deletion 060121

I tried to update my airport city to 8.3 from microsoft store , but it didn't work. So i tried it from Google and it got updated.
But i opened my airport city my in-game progress was lost ,my friend code was changed and some tabs position was changed and also the dialog boxes were appearing small , after a while a dialog box appeared saying 'Do you wan't to transfer your progress' i clicked yes and then only my cash and level was transferred to this new airport city .
Is there any way to switch to my old airport city.

8.3 changed the screen layout for my games on Windows, just as you are showing. Gi rearranged the tabs and appears that they went to a higher resolution making everything appear smaller. I personally don't like it. I now have to wear my glasses in order to play. It appears that they needed more room on the right side so that they could try and sell us more stuff.

On the plus side, I have also noticed that when you hover the mouse over an item in your city, a tag comes up showing what the item is. This even works in your neighbors city, so you can now actually know what people are hiding behind all their skyscrapers. It also helps with the "Where's Waldo" part of some sidebar tasks when looking for similar looking buildings.

On windows if you took a backup you can use it to restore your game to the level at back up time. I have used this a few times when a game has been lost - years ago windows used to reset to level 0 on a weekly basis! - it is very, very, very easy to do and will help for the future - here is what I use:-

Think these are still the right instructions, I wrote them 2 years ago! - versions may have changed, the important thing is to find and copy the "local state" folder - its what I do daily, and copy to a memory key, and it takes just seconds.
DAILY BACK UP INSTRUCTIONS
1) Open file explorer, click on the view tab and just to the right of the header ensure the box, Hidden files or items is checked.
2) You can manually save the game each day if you feel comfortable with that, by going to: This PC. Click on C/users/username/AppData/Local/Packages/xxxxxxAirportCityxxxxx/LocalState or similar
3) With this folder open, copy and paste the contents, preferably on another drive, SDCard, Thumb drive, but not on the same drive you are using for the game. Note that again unless the hidden items box is not checked under the view tab, a user cannot see the AppData folder.
4) If you save a shortcut on your desktop, it is even easier.
RECOVERY INSTRUCTIONS
1) If your game should happen to crash and revert back to level 1, all you need to do is close the game and the LocalState folder is created.
2) Go to where you saved your LocalState folder, copy the contents and replacing the ones in the "new" local state file.
3) Open the game once again and you should be right where you left off.

It is more complicated than PC's online games. . . .

Yup, but once you have done it and saved a short cut it takes seconds. Its just finding that "local state" folder.
This game is often updated, but the update method is different from the traditional PC game update. Now my game doesn't know what went wrong.
Bank projects can't buy green or game gold coins, and game activities can't buy advanced options

Hi gang - just thought I would let you know my laptop crashed yesterday, and it needs to go away for repair. BUT today I got Mrs Ralphy's laptop out of the cupboard, dusted it off, booted it up, waited for 2 years of updates to catch up and then loaded airport city. Played to level 3, then closed the game, followed the instructions above from my last back up, and my game is fully up and running. SO it still works! Phew.
