How did a guy I dont recognize suddenly become the owner of my alliance? I logged in one day and there he was.

No. If your are leader but don’t sign in for a month I think it is, it’s quite long, then ownership is passed onto the highest level player. That’s how I think it works.

Hmm, dunno. I've seen it happen I think in only 2 weeks with an active leader.

I was in alliance and i did pax more than anyone else with one of my other accounts after the weekly reset time the owner is Zzz for a week after the reset time 2nd week i became the owner and i keep the old owner in the alliance maybe he will return back to transfer the leadership back to him but he didnt show up.
I think who doing more pax he/she will be the new leadership if the owner Zzzz.
