what is the point of the welders dropping from jumbo gust plains? is there a use for them?.

yes i know but usually by the time you can land jumbo your repair base is long done and you get it from Cyprus

So, the answer seems to be "No". As you say, they aren't really needed as a drop.
I currently have 93 of the useless things. But, I suppose it makes a change from sunglasses.
