IMHO the forum participation was better before we had a daily thread. It was simple to scroll through the monthly thread backwards (most recent first) and make a list of neighbors and gifts. Now we have to change threads every day and watch them, then go back to yesterday and the day before and the day before to check neighbors that haven't posted in a few days. I made my argument on the iPad Daily Trading Thread - From Monthly to Daily. But I live with it because I'm an Airport City addict. (Is there a twelve-step program for that?)
It also never made sense to split the iOS and Android gifting into separate threads since many users play both platforms. (I don't know anything about Amazon users and don't have any as neighbors so I will refrain from getting into that.)
If I had my druthers, I'd have a weekly thread that combined iOS and Android. Easier to search. Easier to gift.
I also agree with those that are frustrated with GI and their seemingly random punishments. I went through that recently with my iPhone game. I bought 96 greenies, GI gave me 1,070 greenies (their mistake) and then stopped me from gifting and joining launches because I cheated. Really, GI! Really! Now I'm afraid of buying any greenies so I don't have to go through that mess again. Good strategy, GI: Keep people from giving you money because your programming is so buggy.
I told myself if I ever had to start over with my Waverly huff iPad game I would stop playing AC and concentrate on my other favorite games The Simpsons: Tapped Out and Dragonvale. The social aspect of those games isn't nearly as fun but the games are solid and the support is first-class ... and English is their first language. I'd miss my AC neighbors but wouldn't miss the frustration at all.

greensmith Tom, I completely agree with you that a combined weekly thread would be better! I don't know if it helps but I follow all the neighbours I gift to, so when I need to look at what they each need I go to the 'people I follow' section of the menu and click on the information tab which shows their signatures... Seems to make it a bit quicker for me when I haven't been on the forum for a couple days... Of course this only works if they have updated their signature!
Get me... Attempting to give advice to the master of the game! Haha

Thanks for the compliment but I don't consider myself a master of anything other than my destiny. I just have lots of time on my hands and while I should be spending it on worthwhile endeavors, like making the world a better place, I play AC instead.
I tried the "People I Follow" approach but it still requires clicking on a name, clicking on Information, writing down the gift request, clicking back twice, clicking on another name ... and so forth. In the monthly thread I just had to scroll up all the way while writing down the gift requests, clicking on the previous page, scrolling ... and so forth. I guess I'm a creature of habit. Anyway, so far the game has been worth the trouble. Let's see if GI can keep it that way.

For me, it's the blocking of games for GI bugs. Then unblocking all Android players. (Note my signature)
