GI restored all of the items I lost after my game crashed. - thanks to Cath who was able to get screen shots from the game on their server when GI could not restore the game.
If your game crashes - DO NOT PLAY and do not even open it. See if one of your neighbors can take screen shots from the game that is on GI's servers --- if you play, the games will sync and you will lose the opportunity of getting the screen shots.
