This has happened to me a number of times. When it happens, I "X" the friend out of the Waiting window, then have my prospective neighbor add me. It seems to work ... although gosh knows GI isn't consistent.

I've tried that with @erb22 on both our ends and it hasn't seemed to work... I'll try it with @unclemans 2, although it appears I'm on his friend list already, so not sure how he's going to add me?
