.my launch was hijacked by someone...not sure how they can take first on a green launch when I have already contributed 822

Easy:

If someone goes up to 777 (assuming there are only you and the hijacker), the launch is not sent yet.
Then the second player add 120, and he goes first on the launch.

(This is in the case there are only you and the hijacker, or only small other peoples).
As soon as his final score is 823, the guy could take your place.

This is why the space flight guide tell that to be sure being at first place, you need 981 points (see the space launch guide).
