The event right now is dark skies and I need a crystal ball bonus. I just popped a reliable crew… will this work in having items dropped from flights ?

Crystal bonus comes from a collection of items from drops from event flights (Abnormal Activity collection) and white phantoms (or from rewards in the event -- Premium Class level 4 or Basic class Level 17).
Reliable Crew will only increase your chances of getting a drop from event flights by 50% by itself.
I suggest that you keep flying normally and work up to the Crystal Ball bonus. Then use it as efficiently as possible.
