General Maximum hangers

Is the max hangers 13 like it says on the wiki? I thought I read on forums someone said 16 planes was the max

I think 13 is the max. I haven’t seen anyone with more than 13 hangars. (Maybe with +2 reserve hangars )

Yes the max is 13. There are a couple of old bugs that let you use event or special hangers for ordinary planes, but they stamped it out a while ago.

There used to be a number of players who had 20-30 or more hangars - they're all gone now (thank you GI). Cheaters do get banned sooner or later. But yes - 13 regular hangars is the max, plus event hangars (which cannot be used for regular planes anymore.)
