Sorry for the rant--it's mostly the whiskey talking. What is up with the Launch Misers who like to jump in to make sure they grab 2nd place, but can't spend 14 more points to get the bird off the ground already? You've spent 1200 on a 1600 launch. You try to leave an opportunity for one of your neighbors to jump in and grab some action for just 400. You come back hours later to check the status only to find some penny pinching remora has left the launch 14 points from liftoff. WHY?? You can't spend two more small items to get us moving four hours ago?

Sometimes when I come across a launch on a non-forum member that's been on the pad for only a few minutes, I'll do that.
I will put in enough just short of launching because:
1. I don't know if that neighbour communicated the launch to another neighbour and are waiting for them - in that case that 2nd neighbour can get same points and chests on third that I'm getting on 2nd, with only 14 points added from their side
2. Leave opportunity for another neighbour of theirs to get on the flight for third - I usually check in after an hour and launch if nothing happened.

When a pad has been open for a while - 45mins or more, and it is a neighbour that is on multiple of my games, I'll pop two of my games into 2nd and 3rd and launch.

It always seems a wasted opportunity to get a silver chest when launching with only 2 on board...

That reminds me of another great point @retkot

I personally hate launching rockets alone. The 2 and 3 prizes are great as well. So I want to leave room for 3rd place at a minimum - 5th place on a red launch.

Whiskey or no whiskey, I would be happy for the person that jumps in and puts in 2 points to get a cheap chest.

And after all, it is YOUR launch, not theirs. You should get to decide when to launch.

And if you haven't communicated in the forum/chat how you want the launch to go, you can't fault joiners for guessing your intentions incorrectly. Most of us aren't psychic.

So, if you would prefer not to be joined by "freeloaders", make it a private launch or communicate in the forum ... but maybe with tequila in hand of course instead. Everybody knows whiskey makes people angry

The game doesn't really provide the communication tools for this to be actionable. If a player wants first place reserved for themselves, they should keep the launch private until they have input sufficient points. We can't possibly have a million players with a million different rules. Its a bit like arguing over vaccine allocation........

The rant isn't about hijacking though @pete blake - it's about not putting in many points.

But not everyone is on this forum, nor even aware of its existence and especially all the rules nor bound since aren't intrinsic to AC.

Perhaps it's as simple as they depleted all available fuel, then went to bed. Afterall, just 12 fuel can take 2 hours to reactivate.
