We have all noticed how much greedier GI has been lately - including trying to steal greenies with their unethical popups. GI is about to become even greedier than they already are - by 18% (at least) and I expect they will raise prices and expect to maintain their customer base. Value-Added Tax (VAT) Changes for Paid Apps Sold in Russia
Russia recently passed and implemented legislation that requires remote sellers of digitally-supplied goods and services to consumers to register and collect VAT. That legislation also mandates that operators of Marketplace Platforms and Services (like Microsoft's Windows Store) undertake to collect and remit VAT for sales on that platform.
Russia will become a Microsoft remittance country where Microsoft (or its billing service provider) will collect and remit the VAT on behalf of developers. Effective January 1, 2017, Microsoft will determine the VAT due, withhold such VAT from your App Proceeds, and remit directly to the Russia tax authorities. The current VAT rate in Russia is 18%.
