Is there any advantage to finishing the quest first in your league?

I'm currently first in the Titanium League (one of them, I'm assuming) I was put into for the Dancing with Leprechauns 🍀 quest. I've been first by a growing margin as the game has progressed, so while I don't have the planes to even get me within any kind of reach of the Platinum League, I've been getting the four Steel Chests, which I LOVE. So anyway, I'm already locked in for the four Steel Chests for tomorrow because I was at one for most of today. That was until about five hours ago when someone came out of nowhere, someone with 463 stars and 15 stands and just this huge city with all the best planes, and jumped just barely ahead of me and stopped. So when I visited his city, I saw that he has the Malt House, meaning he's already completed the quest. I thought, "Well, that's why he's stopped." So I wanted to know what, if anything, happens if you finish the quest in first place in your league, so I loaded up some planes and got about a hundred points (pots of gold) ahead of him. Then he jumped ahead of me. We've been going back and forth on this for several hours now-- competing for first place. But I ask myself, "Why?" I mean, do I get anything out of this. Or is it just the honor of being first, because I don't need that. I'd much rather spend the rest of the quest using my pots of gold on Spy Glasses and getting stuff I want, like the last easel I need from Paris to get the Art Store.

Somebody please tell me what, if anything, happens when you finish first. I'm not even sure that I can. This guy has got me super-outgunned, me with my only 103 stars and 8 stands flying Ravens and Hawks, so is he just toying with me or something, or is there something really to be had by finishing the quest first in your league? Like do you get some of those Gold Tokens or something, which I have no idea about how to earn? I only started playing in December, so I've still not figured everything out. It's been kind of like feeling around in the dark. It got better when I found this website in January, though, and people on here have been really nice-- and that's saying something because this is the Internet, after all.

There is no benefit in finishing a league in any given position unless you are in platinum.
Daily, your best position in a league determines your position for the day, and your reward for that given day (which you can collect the next day). Odds are they are flying for stars/ event points to use in store.
People will come out of nowhere when they are demoted from platinum league. Platinum league can only have 100 players. There are a number of titanium leagues. Just because you are at the top of that league doesn’t mean anything, there may be a player at the top of another one with 1000 more points, or equally 1000 less.

Thank you so much for telling me that. I'm not sure why he keeps putting himself just ahead of me and stopping, but I'll just let it be being that 2nd is no different than 1st in the Titanium League. I mean, he'll get 500 coins and I won't, but my experience has been that all you need to have done is hold the position just one time during the day to qualify for the number of steel chests it gives you when it comes time to claim the daily award the next day, like dropping out of first didn't make my number of steel chests drop down to three.

Anyway, big love for giving me the skinny and getting it to me so quickly. Now I can let it go and play for what I want, which is that Art Store that drops from collections from Paris flights. By buying Spy Glasses with my pots of Gold, I've gotten all sorts of good stuff already easily. I spent yesterday doing that because I was in first and I think everyone in my league had finished their quests so there was no real changes going on...
