It is extremely important that you back up your Airport City Game Folder on a regular basis, at least once a day. You should do this when you have finished playing with your game. Undertaking this important task will create two identical copies of your game folder, one on your playing device hard disc e.g. your computer or laptop, and the other on a separate storage medium.
It will be important you continue to perform this important function everyday, otherwise you will have two game folders, but they will not be identical. If you then experience any problems with your game, and you restore from the old game folder copy, which maybe many days old, you will lose items from within your game. These items could be buildings, large amounts of coins, many green notes, land expansion, passengers, fuel, stars, planes, helicopters, silver tokens, gold tokens and items stored in your warehouse. In other words, you will lose all the items that you obtained, between your last backup, and when the problem with your game occured, that will be the difference between the two.
You will have the option to contact Game Insight Customer Support, but this may take a considerable amount of time, before your game is restored. Forum members experiences of contacting GICS with problems and having them resolved speedily, are often mixed. There are many threads on the forum, where members have expressed their frustrations with Game Insight and the amount of time it can take. This may of course not be the case for you, but you should keep this in mind. Being able to restore your own game with no lose, means you will avoid this from possibly happening to you.
You will find the Airport City Game Folder on your playing device e.g. computer or laptop hard disc, by using File Explorer. You will need to ensure that you have selected the View tab, it will be located along the top row, it will be the fourth option of four File, Home, Share and View. You will need to ensure the box 'Hidden Items' or 'Item Check Boxes' is selected.
Using the File Explorer you will need to select This PC from the left hand vertical column (there are two sections to the application), you may need to scroll up or down to locate it. You will then need to take the following path, C/Users/AppData/Local/Packages/xxxxxxAirportCityxxxxxx or something similar. The series of crosses represent lower case letters and numbers, both sets of crosses will have the word Airport City in the middle. The reason for this, is that the set of figures will not be the same for all forum members who back up their Windows game in this manner.
Having located the Airport City Game Folder, you will be able to save your game, using the Copy and Paste option, the menu will appear on your screen, when you have pressed the right hand key on your mouse. The folder will contain data files and file folders for your game, the following will give you some idea as to the different types, AIRDAT FILE, DAT FILE, TMP FILE, BAK FILE. Please note, you may not have all the types, and the number of files and folders will depend on how long you have been playing and the size of your game. You will need to take a copy of the Airport City Game Folder and back it up separately, for example, onto a SD Card, a USB Key or an External Hard Disc Drive. You will need to ensure that you change from the C drive (the hard disc where your game folder is stored) to the drive that will be assigned to the storage device you are saving your back up game folder to. It will be hard to say what the drive letter will be, so you will need to be careful.
You will need to give your folder a name, it will be good to label the folder Airport City Data Folder or something similar. Also a good idea to locate the folder where you can easily access it, when updating the Airport City folder. It will also be important to mention, that you will need to be very careful, it is very easy to get this backup process wrong, and not realise until much later.
