Hi everybody !

I wonder if it is just in Europe or if it is the same elsewhere.

In France, (and in Europe) we have low cost airlines, do you have this in the USA ? in China ? Japan ? Africa ?

But, it is not all : I used to go to London, from Toulouse, for 20€ (roundtrip) ! From Toulouse to Edinburgh or to Madrid for 20€...

I saw one flight from Warsaw to Gdansk (Poland) for only ... 2€ !

Is it the same in your cities ?

The Airline is Ryanair (For me, the best airline ever ! !).

Do you have those kind of price to travel ?

I am just curious :D !

Stansted - is like a massive cattle herding operation.
Ryanair - I used to fly Stansted to Limoges, Bergerac, Angouleme or Poitiers quite a lot. Never had a good experience, or was treated like anything other than an inconvenience. And every single little extra was an additional charge. Horrible company.

I'm so with you there @Arggers - never once have we had a good experience. Can't tell you how many times I've flown with them, just hoping for a better experience than the last, it's never happened (n). Anyway, by the time you've finished paying for all the extra's they get you with I've found it easier, more cost efficient (along with the treatment of customers of course) better to fly with the bigger airlines nowadays :D

If I travel with my kids, especially in school holidays, it's cheaper and less hassle to drive.

And (as I've found out ready for this summer) only about £20 more for the three of us to get the train from Norwich to Angouleme, via London and Paris!!

Yeah, I think more people are doing that now...my sister and kids drive to Folkstone or Dover and get the euro/ferry to France when going to Disney. It's so much cheaper and relaxing journey especially with 2 young kids.

Because the goal of Ryanair is to be cheap ! not to sell a good service ! it is easy : if you want a good service, you fly with British Airways, and if you want a good price, you fly with Ryanair ! Like hotel, if you want a good service you sleep in Sofitel, and if you want a good price, you sleep in Hotel F1 ! you can't claim a good service in an hotel F1 !

I was really happy to take only 2hours to go to Edinburg from Toulouse and for 20€ instead of 20h by car and 500€ !

Norwich - Angoulême by car ? ? When I lived in Strasbourg, I did Strasbourg - Toulouse by car, it takes around 11h, I would prefered to die !

And what about EasyJet ? ?

Not me, my sister and family and they always enjoy it and have no problems with driving in France. If we go to Paris we get the coach and then the Ferry from Dover to Calais even less hassle :D.

Oh no, what happened?

I the car I bumped was an ambulance ah ah ! ! so, I drove during 4 days without plate number in London ah ah ah ! I am laughing, but at this moment, I was upset !

Travel in the US is very different. We have no truly national rail system. Amtrak is great for the east coast (geography between the major cities makes this somewhat feasible) otherwise it’s slow and not really widely used

We have low cost air carriers like allegiant, spirit, and frontier but you rarely see $20-$30 legs. I live in Minneapolis and to fly to Chicago (400 miles) is usually $200 round trip. Once in awhile I could find one on sale for $125 or $150 but it’s really rare to find that unless you want to go at 6:00am or 10:00pm. Anything outside that regional distance is going to generally be more

US carriers have a reputation of being very customer unfriendly too. I’ve flown on a number of foreign carriers and if I had the choice I’d only fly them. They treat you like humans way more than the US carriers

That is very interesting. I have heard the internal travel is very expensive in the US and Canada and we hear horror stories of what the staff of some airlines do to their customers! You have such massive distances that we can hardly comprehend - like the distance from east to west is almost the same as getting from the east coast to the UK.

It is really expensive ! But, as @Chazzy999 said, distances in the USA are significant ! I Wonder the price in Russia to fly Moscow - Vladivostok ! !
