Buying fuel is a terribly expensive endeavour.

The ‘cheapest’ has to be the 2000 units + 20(?) greens for £/$5 that typically comes with each new event.  But even so 2000 units won’t get you far.  You need 5,100 to instant return 100 Owls on green launch maps.

Gifts and launches are by far your best option.  Using neighbour visits on anything other than launch items is a massive waste in my humble opinion.

Don’t underestimate gifts too.  30 neighbours x 20 fuel x 7 days = 4,200 units.
