I have requests from Peter and "wowa" who are in my "waiting" tab - I only add forum members so if anyone knows forum ID's for these two players please let me know and I will accept the requests

There is no need to bother us all every time you show up in "random people" carousel.

If you only add forum members then it's even easier - just delete all requests unless you're waiting for one.

That's what i am doing... Unless someone write to me, asking for neighborhood, i am just delete them... About 10 each day

I am not referring to the people that show up i the first random screen - this is the second tab which means they have specifically sent a request to you. Unfortunately not all forum members message to let you know and I have rarely found that a search based on game name works - especially as there are some people who change their names regularly. Added to this there is now a large new field of Android and IOS members that I am unlikely to know as yet - it will be good I think if the forums get merged soon since there seems no more reason to segregate by operating system since the update (though I appreciate that there are some who are not yet upgraded for a variety of reasons)

The few posts that I make I am hoping will be seen by the person concerned or someone else who remembers them - I don't send them to individuals and I don't expect everyone to read them or reply to them so don't really understand why they should be a "bother" to anyone.
Who knows if the people concerned are "lurkers" maybe it will tempt them to join.

Not everyone in the "Waiting Reply" list has sent a request. This is particularly the case if you have your friend code private, as it would be impossible to send a request if they can't see your code.

Ahh Right - cant really see the point of the two sections then - I had assumed that Waiting were going to be people who had found my code which is displayed on the forum (or of course people I had requested). I really wish that the game had some way of messaging any neighbour!

It means the person rolled you as one of the 4 random people and clicked "add everyone" : ) It's quite easy to distinguish, if you haven't seen the "you got 200 gold" message, then nobody entered your friendcode. Plus, requests from the random carousel usually come in bunches, while surprise forum requests are either singular or from main+support accounts.

This is why I said to use Google search, not forum search. As long as they list their game name in their sig, it'll find them, if not it means they're not from forum or (very rarely) not following our forum conventions. If they don't care to follow our conventions - no point of adding anyway.

I've noticed 2 or 3 threads "who is X" made by you within 3 days. The worst part was that one of them was very important, as it was about person who hijacked an existing account and popped up as already a neighbour, not mere awaiting request. As I see it, it is author's responsibility to filter out things unimportant for the general audience, as to not force everyone reading the forum to make the filtering for you.

I don't send them to individuals and I don't expect everyone to read them or reply to them so don't really understand why they should be a "bother" to anyone.

??? The whole point of "forum" is to expect that everything you write in public will be read by everyone! It is when you want to limit your audience, you write a non-public message.

If a person refuses to take the effort communicate with you, he/she will be a bad neighbour anyway.
You take a great effort to give a change to person that looks like took no effort at all - it is never a good start. All that I ask is that if you choose to take the effort and extend the courtesy, then do it all by yourself and not ask everyone to help you.

I agree. I'm sure the facility could be rather badly abused, but if it was turned OFF by default and had a simple way to block or unblock neighbours it would be a useful feature.

I hear what you say though if I hadn't posted asking the person in my list I might well have found myself playing with someone who steals accounts so in this situation I feel my question was useful. When I said such posts were occasional I was referring to the whole period of membership - the current period is unusual in that we all have lost most of our neighbours so re-building is time consuming. I knew that I could add Android neighbours before - I added my android account once to see what happens - what I found was that I could not seem to gift nor, presumably take part in spaceflights - certainly that is what I was told by others on here whereas now it seems there is no difference between neighbours no matter what platform they are on (not sure about facebook - haven't tested that. I am surprised if many members read all new posts, who has time to do that! I always look at posts I am included in and just glance at the others to see if there are any that look interesting I think that the very small number of members who respond to posts about gifting needs etc suggests that most people do not read all the postings - actually I guess that you must because you are one of a tiny handful of people who respond to my posts when they are not directly concerned.
I don't make judgements on how well or badly prospective neighbours use the forums as long as I know I can PM them when I need to - whilst I choose to follow the forum protocols I don't really care if other neighbours choose not to. I haven't yet encountered such a thing as a bad neighbour. I know a few that don't return gifts always but I just figure that they don't have the same amount of time I do - to keep spreadsheets and records.
About the only thing that annoys me on the forums is the number of people who start space flights without posting any information about their intentions for it.

However to draw a line under this I do not like, intentionally, annoying anyone so I will stop using the forum for this particular purpose - even though yours is the only complaint that I have ever received, or even seen, about this.

Well, everything is geared up for exactly that. There is "find new posts" option that shows all threads with posts you haven't read. And when you dive in it shows what is new and what you've seen already, so you can pick right where you left.

About the only thing that annoys me on the forums is the number of people who start space flights without posting any information about their intentions for it.

IMHO those launches are meant to be private. If you want good launches, then join rocky's. I assumed you've read his open invitation, but now I think you might have missed it : )

@gbswales 1 more thing (thankfully my wife keeps reminding me to voice out the positive aspects because I tend to focus on negatives alone): I didn't explained why your topics matter to me. It's not only what's written but by whom. Eg this guy who posted crap while being drunk - he never posted anything even remotely important so I ended up adding him to ignore list, I don't even have to see his posts anymore. But you're the exact opposite, one of the reasonable people who either post valuable things or are looking for solutions to important problems. That's why it's hard for me to just walk past your threads : )

Heck I see posts quite often recently from an unnamed source who seems
to post to themselves. With the update wiping out neighbors I am sure the
random players who can not communicate are adding all the neighbors GI
suggests. This will affect the number of random requests you will receive,
which go into your waiting reply list without getting the extra 200 coins.
Best practice is to check the forums if you have not received a PM or
been tagged simply delete them. Not positive but I believe the whole
missing getting connected may be fixed so no problems if this is the case.

If you really do not want to post things like this again that is of course
your decision. But by all means post away if you are looking for some assistance.
Barring all that you can always PM me I will be more than happy to answer any
questions I am able to.

it did go through my mind to question how long it takes someone to scan subject lines and decide which posts they want to read or not - it wasn't as if I had put "interesting content inside - please read". Incidentally are you still flying WP2 as I don't have it in my neighbour list yet. I abandoned my old drone account as it lost Fuel20 but am cultivating two new drone accounts which do have fuel20 and to which I shall start inviting people shortly.
