This has been an unfixed bug for far too long, and now it seems to extend to Fuel Cans as well (at least it does on Windows).  So, for new players who haven't learned this yet.... if you get a bonus like Fuel Additive, Fuel Can (and frankly at this point, I would be leery of any bonus);  do not turn off your game while it's running, or it could disappear.
