So, I am now just over 3 months in to this iteration of my game. I'm at level 58 with 161 stars. Town hall 8, terminal 6, control tower 7, repair base 5 (which can service giants)

I know (thanks @Barkmi4 (Mike)) that once I get a giant, I will start getting giant alliance flights and I will require lots of buildings and flight items. And I barely have stars on jumbo flights (1 berlin, 1 houston) and still not many on my eagle flights.

My big question is do I buy a Giant now or just put it off for a while?

I am in a very similar situation and for the time being I have decided not to buy any giant yet. It has some benefits and some drawbacks. Considering actual situation I will rethink to buy a giant when I have 12 stands and I would prefer to get directly S1 or S2 version by spending gold and silver tokens and not coins. We will see as I would prefer to have minimum 2 of them at the same time.

You can wait, it won’t go anywhere. If it were me, I’d wait.

Make sure you have plenty of blankets, repair items, etc. Oh and make sure you can produce enough pax to make sure all your planes can fly.

If you plan to finish the 2nd alliance task with Giant, you might want to consider buying more than 1 at once.

Depends what your goals are, and how important alliance tasks are. Some alliances dont really bother with them, so the only thing to consider is star chasing from Alliance destinations. If your alliance tries to complete tasks, then it needs more thought - but I don’t know how many flights you would need from a giant. I think it varies by level. It depends how important passenger numbers are too - giants can seriously increase your capability, but equally need a much higher output from your city.

If I was going back to do it again, it’d be planning my fleet to smash those 1000 flight alliance destinations as quickly as possible, and getting the S3 planes at the same time. This is far more difficult with the 100 limit as you can’t stock many flight items before purchasing the planes.

I find it best to set goals and aim for that, otherwise it’s way too easy to get distracted and feel as though you aren’t progressing.
This year for me it’s token chasing. I f***ing love Visa Centres and their auto collect function without contracts running. I’d like the remaining 5 police stations to go with them, and then I have the RH2 to upgrade as well. So my focus is adventure flights for the chests.

Similar??? Same!!! You are starting over like me. Glad I'm not the only one walking this path. :)

Very true and I am so happy that I am not the only crazy veteran here starting all over :) Lack of coins is my major drawback at this moment. I am not able to help to my alliance mates other than contributing 60 to 70k passengers a week, luckily they do not want more from me. I am so happy they took me back despite the fact I am just a tiny fragment of what my city was able to generate per week in mid of 2015 or later on in 2016 in spite of two very serious bugs hiiting my games. I cannot afford exchanging planes to meet demands and I found myself very inflexible in comparison with the past. I am not flying to get stars now, it could wait for some time as I need to grab resources for QLs and space launches. I do events as they could generate free spy glass to help me to progress much faster.

Why alliance destinations?
It’s the biggest ball ache in the game to complete. As the destinations only come up as part of the weekly task, it can take weeks just to see the destination you need. With there being 5 for each plane type, it needs some planning unless you’re willing to throw 20 greens over and over to cycle the destinations.
This all assumes you’re interested in stars.

The thread seems to have drifted a little but I now prioritise by how hard the flight stars are to get so I plan in this order. That’s if you are looking to collect stars 🌠🌠🌠

Quest addtional flights which generally come around yearly (rarely)
Weekly Alliance mission flights as you never know when you will get the chance again (very seldom)
Adventure & alliance map flights, but with good resource and plan (seldom)
Story (normal) flights (often)
I am lucky that I have an established game and a split fleet of Hawk (10) and Condor (6) + others and can buy and sell if needed

If you are in it for the long haul I think this is the best way, takes time but keep ticking off the stars and don’t get caught up with quests that aren’t helpful. Or unless you need the building to increase population.

Interesting. I had quest flights first but only alliance flights enough to complete the task. I think I will keep my swift and finish those alliance flights before selling it to get the owl alliance flights. Then get a lot of the stars knocked off before moving to bigger planes.

It’s easier to do it like that, I’m back on swift alliance flights. Then I’ll need to sell my S3 swift following that for the owl flights (because I didn’t plan it very well).

I have no S1 or S2 planes yet. So good thing. Given the way I play, I don't see a benefit in owning them right now. Maybe later
