No,, it meant that unless you are level 71 and above you aren't in the same league during the events as someone who may or may not still have more than 100 items from years ago.

And back to the original concern of the 271 flights (or whatever it was) it honestly isn't that hard to do even if you only have 100 items.  As already stated this is a game of strategy which would include resource management.
