I've never had an issue before either (apart from not being able to collect the code through the google chrome web browser), because it used to come up with the screen for people who play the desktop version of the game. You had a choice of redeeming the code through the microsoft store (if that's where you got the game through), via android, or desktop (for people who downloaded the game to their computer), instead of playing it on the server.
I am also not on Facebook. That is why we have nice people here who share the links and we help each other out
