Building choices - what ought I prioritise?

Good day, fellow flyers. I have been making adjustments to my airport in recent history, making use of the most appropriate buildings to my gameplay. I could use a little crowd-sourced advice.

Some choices have been fairly easy. There are a number of quest-related buildings like the Triumph Hotel, Sound Store, and Game Studio that are actually not a bad use of space - their payoff per square per day is pretty good, their payoff period (1 hour) is convenient, their size is convenient, I need them for occasional quests, and a couple have radial bonuses. No problem.

Some choices are tougher. I appreciate why the collection drop buildings are useful, +50 pop, bespoke drops, only drops once per day so simpler to collect. Regular buildings like the Parallax Hotel are fairly convenient, 2x2 size, payoff once per day, possible launch item drop. Similar the Comet Hotel. But there are other buildings that still give the +20 pop, that give more coins for less maintenance (eg electricity), maybe give a +5% coin/pax bonus, and the item drops (one bolt per year) aren't exactly great.

I'm almost level 80. Coins are becoming less important. Is it worth me including buildings like these Hotels in my city, for the occasional drop, or am I better off focusing on other things?

When coins stop being so important (remember that you get most of your coins from collections now, probably), then the focus is on pax buildings.
When I started accruing millions of coins with not much to spend them on, I started slowly replacing my coin buildings with pax buildings. By now, any coin building in my city has to do something else -- e.g., drop something helpful, increase the terminal capacity, or be in my magic/bonus square. Then I have an area open for event buildings conveniently located behind my terminal and I just put those buildings out for the events.

Anyway, that's what I do. Hope it helps!

So difficult to answer! - depends what you play for. My game plan is completing everything - so I have all normal buildings, I have 3 starred all flight destinations and am working through map and mission destinations. I also want a city that feels real - so my roads are real and you can drive everywhere with a city that is zoned - residential area, business area, historic area, theme park and night life areas! I could live and work in my city! I like completeness so try to have 1 of every buikding out unless they do something.

My priority is 1) passengers and based on my collecting frequency. As I collect before work, when I get home and then once more before Bed, buildings that drop every 4 hours are priority. 2) Fuel, fuel, fuel - when you launch a map you want as many flights out of it as you can, especially if a mission map that needs 1000 flights and 3) Space items as launches are great ways to build fule for when you use a map.

Don't know if this helps, but it does highlight that we all play for differnt reasons!!!

Oooh yes, aesthetics! My city is laid out with the same buildings in groups of 6 with roads in between (except for the bonus square and 1x1 buildings around my VCs). This is based on AB's city and the layout makes me very happy when I look at it!

I know, I like your layout! - When I get a neighbour request I look at whether they have planetariums, Bank Casino or Mint, and how they are laid out. Makes a massive difference when visiting and looking for certain buildings, but also just looks right! LOL. Couldn't resist connecting with yours for both reasons.

When I was starting out, I think my city was two-thirds coin and one-third passenger, and I used spreadsheets and all kinds of tools to maximize coin revenue. At a certain point I started flying larger planes. 14 Giants or Condors eat up passengers quickly, and now I'd say my city is a 50-50 split, simply as I have enough passenger buildings to feed the Condors and do not need more. Like other high star players, the aesthetics of my city are important now, and most of my buildings are more unique vs. the standard ones.

As for reserve hanger, this is one of those areas that I have paid to increase it, because when you are star chasing for those weekly flights, they are bestowed based on your lowest, highest, and most common type of aircraft, and it's mighty convenient to park a dozen Condors vs. having to sell and re-buy them when you are chasing an event location star, or a weekly star.

If coins are less important I’d focus on the adventure buildings, passenger buildings and anything that can give me a terminal passenger boost (these are limited though).

I just took out a bunch of coin producers but still kept my Game Center’s and a few of the Golden High Rises. That gives me room in my existing city for 12 more adventure buildings.

I don’t worry at all about population and only a little about electricity. In fact I think I have 4 or 5 upgrades to my Town Hall that I’ve never done because it’s just not necessary

Just wanted to tell you that I so appreciate that you have that space right behind your terminal for event buildings. It's always been super helpful during events. I've started to do the same and wish everyone else did too!

I always liked it when others did it too! Now that I have space, I can do it as well :)
