iOS Timer not working after latest update when ipad "asleep"

I upgraded to version 6.0.38 last week and have noticed that when I am using my ipad the timer works and I continue to fly flights, gain fuel and have luggage/coins appear. However when my ipad is asleep all that stops. If I shut the cover and come back 2 hrs later nothing has change. No more fuel, no new coins/luggage available for collection and no progress in flights.

If I shut down the ipad and restart it corrects itself and gives me credit for the time but I've never had to do that before. Anyone else experience this? Any solution or do I just wait to see if they upgrade the game again?

Visit madlen's city before closing the game. Close the game when you are in madlen's city.

Thanks Dan, will give that a try. Don't recall doing that before any of the other upgrades but I did get a message when I visited her city that I haven't seen before.

It is a known issue and that with the next global update, GI will try to release fixes for all devices.

Thanks everyone. I tried Dan's suggestion and it seemed to work but when I woke up today none of my flights had landed and I only had 5 oil. I shut down and restarted and all my flights landed and I was full of oil. Hopefully the next update fixes this.
